Head of BBC resigns for role in spreading false rape allegations

Sounds possibly good from a men's rights perspective. Curious to see if any females involved (junior editors, etc..) will be dismissed or resign. That would be a step in the right direction.

I don't think however that this should change how thoroughly they are investigating the allegations which have been sweeping the BBC recently.

To be perfectly honest, I think that George Entwistle is an unfortunate victim in all this. When he was the producer of Newsnight he did a fantastic job, and only has to resign now due to the mistakes of those under him who did not do the checks that should be expected of any story. He is so new in the job of director general, and was already dealing with a number of crises all appearing at the same time. It must have been truly overwhelming for him. However he has been forced to resign because in the end, he is the head of the BBC, and it is therefore his responsibilty to make sure the BBC maintains the highest standards of journalism.

I also would like to say that the rape allegations have not been shown to be false at all, it is who is alleged to have committed those actions that is false.

Also I am in no way trying to downplay just how incredibly serious it is that the wrong man was publicly accused in this manner. It is truly horrific. But I don't think that George Entwistle's name should be sullied as a result.
