That wasn't abusive, that was just a spanking. The judge video started off as a spanking, but then got into abusive territory. The guy who shot his daughter's laptop was priceless :)

People will draw the line between spanking and abuse in different places, for me it has to do with duration, location (on the body), and how stable the person doing the spanking appears to be. In this case it was short, on the kids ass, and while the uncle was agitated he appeared in control and doing it to make a point.

Any kind of corporal punishment can be seen as abuse. Personally, yeah, it's slightly abusive, but not really that bad of a thing because in context, he's doing that as punishment and to teach his son a lesson. gangs are a huge problem and any positive parenting (even poorly executed) should be relevant.

The difference is this isn't just random violence driven by anger. . . this is not ok but its a hell of a lot better than what the judge did.
