Troopers said Phelps and Nofsinger had sexual relations with 15 and 16-year-old girls between June of 2000 and May of 2003 when both men were Ohio County High basketball coaches.

So we have allegations about a crime which supposedly happened 9 to 12 years ago. There's zero physical evidence and we don't even know if the complaint was lodged by the victim or someone else, and why ten years later? The prosecutors are lucky to get a conviction at all. They're happy to have him plead it down to unlawful transaction with a minor, which is Felony D or so.

Snowflake, this case is nothing like the cases where women get a slap on the wrist for having sex with students.

Terry Nofsinger pleaded guilty to a single count of unlawful transaction with a minor.

So what is this "unlawful transaction with a minor"? Let's see:

530.064 Unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree.

A person is guilty of unlawful transaction with a minor in the first degree when he or she knowingly induces, assists, or causes a minor to engage in:
a. Illegal sexual activity; or
b. Illegal controlled substances activity other than activity involving marijuana, synthetic drugs, or salvia, as defined in KRS 218A.010;

Fun fact: You can be charged with unlawful transaction with a minor in the third degree for telling a minor to disobey their parents.
