Interesting article. I grew up in a home that had a very similar mentality to what she is experiencing at her job in the Midwest. I can tell you that it was a real shock for me when I moved to New England for a job after college.

I suspect that after a little while I she will miss many of the aspects of that lifestyle, especially how neighborly people are. However, in the end I hope eventually she find the right lifestyle for herself.
