Assumptions, assumptions, assumptions.

Yes, he is a cop. That doesn't waive his right to bodily autonomy. He is expected to not overreact. Slapping someone who slapped him first is not overreacting. If he had punched her, knocked her to the ground, and proceeded to kick her repeatedly - that would be an overreaction and rightfully police brutality.

Am I the only person who saw her, while crying, start to raise her fist, and his immediate reaction to that? (Raising his own, which cowled her and led her to start bawling again.)

Not a threat my ass. Someone raising a fist to me in violence alone is threat enough - being able to do that while crying? Even more of a threat because it revokes most standards of honor involved in a fight.

I agree that he should have just cuffed her, but we don't know the circumstances surrounding his lack to do so.
