She also included a link straight to it in the same breath she said "hope you missed it."

I hope you missed the newsstands last week and didn’t see the cover of Time featuring a young mother with an almost 4-year-old latched to her breast. That picture would have given you some traumatic flashbacks.

Yeah, not cool, it's amazing how she can just get away with blatant hypocrisy like that.

Like, it's the equivalent of me saying something along the lines of:

You are an animal lover? Gee, I really hope you didn't see that disturbing video of two women beating six newborn kittens to death with a rubber mallet while they mewled helplessly in pain. Otherwise you might be traumatized by it, you know.

I have a loose and dirty rule for reading statistics. There are two types of gender-weighted statistics, "male perpetrators" and "male + female perpetrators."

Furthermore, they don't hesitate at all to disparage men when they're caught committing a crime, on average, more than females. "Men commit over x% of all violent acts." etc.

But when there is a statistically important number of female perpetrators, the gender language is dropped and suddenly we've got statistics like "x% of all sexual abuse victims report being abused by a parent."

So my quick rule is, when the language is male exclusive, it means that the statistics show at least over 50% male perpetration, and I look to see what the difference is and do some basic arithmetic to see what the number of female perpetrators are. If the language is gender neutral, I assume that means they couldn't pin the blame "mainly" on men, which means at least 50% of the perpetrators are female.

And almost all reports on sexual rape / violence against minors have been "parents, siblings, close relatives, teachers," etc.

Again, this isn't flawless, and my style of reading reports would be laughed out of the room as a conspiracy theory almost anywhere. What can I say, that video that was circulating about how men are the "non-gender" except when committing crimes stuck with me. (Police officer, firefighter, soldiers... meet gunmen, conman, deadbeat dads.)
