My friend is 20, just recently broke up with his ex after dating for only a month. She went to the university and filed a false report, saying that he physically and verbally assaulted her.

Her proof? Bruises on her legs. Except she has leukemia, which causes thrombocytopenia (low platelet count) and commonly causes unexplained bruising.

He said she had the bruises when they started dating and pointed out the leukemia during the hearing, but the board dismissed it saying "You're not a doctor".

He's completely lost and I'm trying to help him out, but I can't find resources online. Their student conduct procedures don't outline the necessary evidence to charge someone with abuse. If his appeal is rejected he'll be suspended during finals week, guaranteeing he'll fail all of his classes and possibly get dropped from his major.

What should he include in his appeal? Is there anything that can be said or done here? The whole case is literally her word against his, and a couple of bruises that can easily be explained by a low platelet count.. I don't know anything about this sort of thing.
