Bit late of a reply but, why do you think we have inter-collegial sports? This is a question no one really ever asks. They actually involve a tiny fraction of a university's student body.

It has little to do with enusuring students are fit and healthy as so few of the student body are involved. I think the reasons are sociologocal and linked to group identity/cohesion at the collegial level and providing talent for professional and National teams that fulfill the same function at the National level. The Olympic Games is loved by all Governments as it creates massive National cohesion every 4yrs, especially if you win. There are other reasons I am sure, and by and large I think inter-collegial sports are a good thing.

Until we are clear as to why we have inter-collegial sport at the post secondary level, a discussion of Title IX and its pros and cons is going to be pretty vaccuous. Though as I have said, from my own personal machinations I think Title IX is largely horse shit because of the faulty and often dishonest debate framing.
