I was on instagram and I checked my ex girlfriends account. There was a guy with her in her profile pic. He was good looking and she looked happy.

I have not contacted her directly, and I have no intentions of getting back together. I have doubled down my efforts to improve myself, working out six days a week, focusing on my career, hobbies etc. But seeing her happy with this guy has absolutely crushed me, reminded me that I didn’t meet her standards, that I wasn’t man enough for her, and that our relationship meant far more to me than it ever did to her.

I’ve swallowed the pill, started working on myself, but I’ve been struggling so much since the breakup. By comparison she’s already happy with someone else, crushing it in her career, speaks four languages, and has a great relationship with her friends and family. Meanwhile, despite my gifts feel totally worthless, unmotivated, weak, and mostly hopeless. I’ve tried meeting new women but the women I match with on Tinder/Bumble don’t excite me, nor have the girls I’ve been on dates with. I’ve been turned down by women I’m actually interested in. I’m an average looking guy, and I worry that my high standards are keeping me from meeting someone new. If I don’t drop my standards, will I be alone forever? The thought of dating girls I’m not really into makes me really sad.

I would never consider suicide, but I haven’t felt excited or enthusiastic about anything in a long time. I only get out of bed because I have to. I don’t want to continue “living” like this.

Guys, what can I do to snap out of this?
