Let's not pretend she's not having the abortion for emotional reasons, please. She wants a baby and she's willing to circumvent his free will to get it, plain and simple.

Firstly, you consistently make assumptions about the OP, her choices and her lifestyle that simply cannot be supported by what's written in her post. You're constructing a strawman to derail the argument, demonize the OP and generally undermine any valid points you make.

just a few comments later. This sort of inconsistencies make it seem like you're not really sure what you mean, and if you're not clear in what you're arguing against, the chances of having a fruitful conversation are basically nil.

Finally, replying to another poster with 'shut up cunt' when they post a differing opinion is completely inappropriate. Using a misogynistic phrase like that (especially when the poster is of an unknown sex) only further alienates people from the MRA community and is downright irresponsible.

The problem I see with your argumentation is that you leave out a few things that are important to notice here, for example the possibility of trauma . Let me explain my opinion:

1.) They both are equally at fault that there is right now a child growing inside her.

2.) Now abortion is and should be her choice, simply because it's her body and she has to deal with the aftermath, as an abortion can lead to trauma etc. pp.

3.) Adoption should be the choice for both of them to consider, but of course none of them should be forced to give out the child for adoption, as it is, again, very damaging and probably traumatic to have to give your child away.

4.) Financial abortion should be a choice of the father, but it isn't. That is my problem.

That is the important thing. If she wants to be reasonable, she should give him the possibility of financial abortion regardless of law.

I don't think the problem was so much with your arguments, but the place and time. This was posted in r/relationships; this woman was looking for advice on how to handle this news with her SO, and from what I could tell the advice being given was good (i.e. tell him now). Bringing up the…..moral ambiguity of her actions wasn’t proper in that setting; people were there to provide her with support and advice, not condemnation.

That being said, the whole situation is shaping up to be one big charlie foxtrot. It’s great they have a marriage based on so much love and compatibility, but for the life of me I can’t imagine why they would tie the knot when they disagreed about children. Her decision to force a child is selfish and wrong, but he should have covered his bases much more thoroughly. If I were as opposed to children as she made him out to be, I would have taken more precautions than just a condom (perfect time for a vasectomy, and she wasn’t even on birth control, cmon). While I’m sure he never imagined his wife would betray his wishes, he’s learning the hard way that some people don’t give a damn what other people (including their SO) want and will act according to their own desires. I hope they are able to work out an agreeable situation that doesn’t cripple him financially for the next 18 or so years, but my gut is telling me that is a very real possibility.

I was told to "take this shit to /r/mensrights" so I figured fuck it, I will. I've asked a few people to pick through my argument and show me some logical flaws, I was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind accommodating me in this? I have yet to get one and I know there's gotta be some mistakes, and getting mistakes pointed out is the best way to learn.
