So as I'm actually on reddit, I have the news playing. I overhear how a deputy has been shot and killed by someone. This is a completely tragic event, but something different is in this case. Deputies get shot and/or killed, and the events are publicized by the media, etc, and rightfully so. However, this time there was a specific thing mentioned. It was stressed around 8 times now that it was a female deputy. They continuously say "this is such a tragic event. The female deputy was shot and killed here." "The female deputy was shot in the line of duty"

Idk to me, it just seems unnecessary to specify female, because I think the death of a deputy, no matter what gender, would be tragic.
