I'm not socially conservative or religious. I believe in any woman's right to have an abortion performed if that is her wish. I believe every contraceptive option should be legal and acceptable to use, whether it's designed for women or designed for men. I also believe hormones, corrective therapy and medication should be available to anyone who is unable to have sex, impregnate another or become pregnant herself.

Ok now that I've got that out of the way I'd like to express my frustration at Reddit and the mainstream media and their attempt to draw parallels between female sexual options and male sexual options. First of all; There is no male equivalent of an abortion. There exists no comparative example because no male in western society is in control of what happens to a egg once it's fertilized. No form of male contraception should be banned because of a ban on abortions; firstly because most Christian conservatives don't believe contraction is immoral like abortion is and the small percentage that do are going to be trilled at both being banned. Neither is going to see themselves as hypocrites because neither are hypocrites. One is entirely against terminating pregnancies, the other is entirely against contraception. Secondly; even if condoms, Viagra or vasectomies were made illegal, female contraception which is actually the direct equivalent of male contraception would still be legal. Therefore there would be no equality.

This all spawns from an incorrect assumption that radical Christianity exists to benefit men and disadvantage women. This couldn't be further from the truth. Religion restricts both men and women's rights to sexual health choices. It restricts men's rights to have sex with who they want and it restricts women's right to have sex with who they want. It implies women are born with an unreasonable level of purity and innocence that they must be forced to maintain. It implies that men are inherently impure and violent and must work their whole lives to return to a state of purity. The structure or a religion is the same structure of society in general. The vast majority of men suffer under it but a few select are granted the opportunity rule over everyone else. They don't exist to make decisions that are beneficial to women or men. They exist to make decisions that benefit themselves and the religion they represent.
