I guess you could call it cock block, but the results can be pretty serious. Stress, depression, loneliness, and mental disassociation.

Basically if you live in a town and certain women whom you used to date or friends of people you used to date spread rumors and lies about you to keep you from meeting new people.

There isn't much you can do. You can't confront the females about the issue beyond arguing in public, and what will that do but fuel the fire? And while it's true that any person who is that small minded to judge strangers probably isn't worth knowing anyway, it's obvious that females use social circles to gather information about potential mates and friends. Basically any grievance perpetrated on a slighted female who likes to gossip can cause you problems down the road.

I had this happen last weekend. I had had Lots of positive interactions with a girl that I liked and just met. Then I realized she worked with a girl who is pretty much my arch-enemy and I know spreads a lot of vicious rumors about me. (basically I lived with one of her close friends, who was a terrible roommate.) I've had verification through other friends that she says terrible shit about me that is completely untrue.

I don't like to think of myself as a victim, but I feel like one. And I don't feel like I have any control over it. It seems to happen to me over and over again too, where girls in my social circle basically stop talking to me for no good reason, and then I find out they are friends with people who are two-faced and gossipy.

Thoughts? Similar situations? What can I do to combat this?

It seems like the conversation of bullying only ever centers around gay, lesbian, and Transgendered people.. but in reality men are victims of social bullying all the time and have no real recourse. Rape accusations. Being called a creep, or just plain cockblocking due to jealousy and anger.
