Sorta. It does speak to the disposability of men, but guys do this to woman as well. What's really at the heart this sentiment is the poor (IMO) attitudes towards relationships people have these days. They tend to be in monogamous relationships...until something better comes along and then they branch swing. Granted women do this far more often than men from what I've seen, likely because more women have more opportunity to do so than most men. 80% vs 20% respectively. And as OThomson pointed out, when women do it this is seen as "empowerment", but when men do it they get the "all men are pigs and just want sex" treatment.

The claim is simply complete bullshit.

First there could be many reasons a man or a woman is insecure about their relationship that has nothing to do with how they treat their SO. For example, they may be insecure if they are not physically attractive, or if they perceive they are not as physically attractive as they should be. It may also just be a low self esteem issue.

Second, the claim implies the man is purposefully not treating his girl good enough, or that she deserves better treatment. It does not take into account any of her actions or how she is currently being treated. There is always someone with more resources that could treat your SO better, buy them things you could not, or take them places you cannot. That does not mean they deserve that treatment, or that the man is at fault for not being able to do these things.

Third, yes it does imply that women aren't interested in a man for them (or at least that men believe it) , but for what they can get out of it. If a better deal comes a long, they will upgrade, without thought to any emotional attachment.

Anyone can be insecure about their relationship when they think there might be someone else who can take their place. I'm also not sure where the quote comes from or in what context it was used, which is kind of necessary for any meaningful discussion.

Heh me and my wife both understand there probably is someone out there that could treat us better. That's not the point of a relationship, if you care about each other you work on it together. You don't just throw him/her away to find something better. I hate the "perfect man/woman" view most people have.

Morality is not something most women are capable of. A moral individual believes in reciprocation - that if one looks to be provided with the best treatment, at all times, one must be willing to provide the best treatment, at all times. Betraying and abandoning someone does not constitute good treatment (indeed, it is very bad treatment that should only be reserved for evil individuals), so it follows that every woman who thinks this way is immoral.
