Dogs in Florida may soon have more protection from domestic violence than men, it seems. Because the abusers are always men; women, children, and pets are the victims:

Fasano told 10 News, "History tells us the victim is the animal as well. Abusers go after the animal as well and the woman is afraid to leave the animal behind."

It's not enough that an "injunction for protection" can be obtained with no evidence and can kick a guy out of his home and separate him from the children. The petitioner will be able to keep his dog too.

Domestic Violence Against Family Pets; Providing that a court may issue an injunction for protection against domestic violence granting the petitioner the exclusive care, custody, or control of any animal owned, possessed, leased, kept, or held by the petitioner, the respondent, or a minor child residing in the residence or household of the petitioner or respondent;
