Laws shouldn't be used to keep away the good dads who care

The tone of that article is biased, as usual. I really like how she says that "the Virginia landscape is littered with deadbeat dads." Then she throws out these stats:

Currently, Virginia is home to 201,707 fathers and 27,113 mothers who are delinquent in their child support payments. Not all are total deadbeats, but many are. Together they owe a whopping $2.8 billion to roughly 315,516 kids.

Those stats show that 14% of the "deadbeat dads" are actually moms. Not even to mention that moms receive custody upwards of 90% of the time and even when they do not get custody, the fathers usually do not seek child support therefore making the mothers more of "deadbeats" than the fathers. Admittedly, those are some big numbers. Why did the reporter not look into how these parents are owing $9,000 per child? Did she look into their ability to pay? No, she assumed that they were "deadbeats". Yellow journalism at its best.

Then she goes on to add this jewel:

Given those sobering numbers and an abundance of evidence that children thrive with two caring parents, it seems to me we should rejoice when a father seeks to be involved with his offspring.

What the actual fuck!? Is she so clueless as to think that most fathers do not want to be involved with their offspring? Does she not realize that the courts are the ones separating the fathers from their children?

If fathers can be removed from a child's life at the mother's or government's convenience then it's perfectly acceptable for fathers to remove themselves from their child's life at their own convenience.

Either that or it's wrong for a child to be denied it's father and equally wrong when government or a woman does it.
