Hey /r/MensRights! I was a student at RWU in Bristol, RI from Aug 2008-May 2010. Things didn't go well for me there, and here's why, in general terms.

There's a big, public "Women's Center" on campus with required assemblies on rape-related stuff in the first few weeks of college. Being a "Good Guy Greg" [and a little Socially Awkward Penguin] I found the assemblies informative. I support basic human rights as much as the next guy, and said so to the people running the Women's Center. I once wrote that "Women are a beautiful people" which usually gets a smile from the ladies.

No such "Men's Center" exists on campus, but last I checked there was a "Men's Club: Locker Room" towards the end of my tenure there. Not sure what is there now, haven't been on campus since May 2010.

The problem is that the Women's Center was your typical feminist drivel about how "Women are always the victims of abuse/harassment/sexual abuse, and men are always the perps. Penises should be cut from their bodies!" While that's mostly true, the lie within is that men are the victims of rape and sexual abuse too, not to mention being defamed by a "money-bags Blonde" with the occasional false accusations. We, as men, just never get any exposure about it.

PERSONAL STORY TIME

Relating to abuse, I was the victim of a vicious rumor there that was perpetrated by females exclusively. I trusted the wrong person with sensitive information. 3 months later, August 2008, before class begins I am accosted with a "formal complaint" to Campus Police stating that I am a "very creepy person" and a "credible threat to the University as a whole," no doubt filed by the females I spoke with. Nothing like making me feel like a rapist to start my college career! [Nothing, repeat, nothing is further from the truth...I am one of the most harmless and tolerant males you'd meet.]

The sensitive info will not be shared here, but I immediately regretted it the second I wrote it (as IM chat.) I apologized profusely, assuring that I was better than that one mistake made. The women then took this one mistake and ruined my life slowly but surely. It took me two miserable years to realize RWU sucked, and two years of daily guilt upon seeing the individuals around campus. I received threats of violence from overprotective boyfriends/friends of the girl. I felt scared to even walk outside the dorm sometimes.

I could do nothing about it while there, I was simply too affected by their hatred to raise concern to people who could help [effectively.]

Today, I realize this was a great case of harassment/intimidation/psyche abuse [in direct violation of University Codes of Student Conduct] and am drafting a letter to the Dean of Students regarding their refusal to help me solve this problem I'd carried with me since day one. This is an ethical issue, not a legal one.

TL;DR Read the above and please offer your advice on what to do. Especially you, "Cognitive Dissonance" guy. You, I like.

r/SRS, I welcome your bigotry and reply! Go-go-gadget hate!
