I dunno about this. She might have felt that since he was a cop she might have difficulty bringing him to justice. I'm against the battered woman defence when it's obviously murder, but I could see how this woman would feel she has no other way out.

Add to that the constant abuse and the threat of death, I'd say 5 years isn't too bad.

Why was she let off the hook for her admitted murder? Battered wife or not, we don't condone vigilante justice. Or do we? There's a lot of folks who've lost their pensions that would feel a lot better if they could put a bullet in a few CEOs out there. No? That's distasteful? Then why the hell is what she did any more palatable. Hint: misandry. Men's worth in our society is so low that we've officially permitted women to murder men so long as they say they were bad, no evidence required. A few crocodile tears and a sob story about how they were abused and they get off with a slap on the wrist. How screwed up is that! These women claiming abuse as grounds to murder better hope others don't find them and dispense some vigilante justice of their own. If we keep letting them slide it's bound to happen sooner or later.
