What to do when kids don't want to stay with other parent

My kids don't usually like to go to their visitation with their mother. My son especially dislikes it most of the time.

I don't really know how to handle it other than to tell them we're bound by the divorce decree to do visitation as ordered.

Let the child choose the parent who doesn't make them do homework and chores, and you'll let them become awful adults.

I have mixed feelings around this issue. I think that Parental Alienation Syndrome is a major issue especially in divorce cases. However, I have two younger cousins that have court ordered visitation with their grandmother who they had been living with when my Aunt passed. They have both adamantly refused to go to her home. I am happy that they're out of that environment, but by turn I'm also afraid for children that have been indoctrinated to fear the other parent.

I did everything I could to get my kids to go to their father - unfortunately he took the attitude that he was just the sitter and didn't seem to spend a lot of time in activities with them so sometimes it was a struggle to get them packed and out the door. As long as they're safe why not? There are different parenting styles and who's to say which is best in the long run? I don't understand why the custodial parents sometimes acts like they don't want the little darlings out from underfoot. After all, these are the weekends YOU get to go out and do what YOU want. Once they hit 15 or so they start wanting to make up their minds and then you never get a weekend off. Enjoy it while you can.
