Nobody knows more how difficult the Bastrop County fire is to put out than the men and women who are on the front lines.
Men and women, huh? Surely if it's the case that women are on the front lines working 16 hours a day, you'll quote one? Let's find out.
"With the winds and everything it's just difficult," said Sequoia National Forest Firefighter Tim Simpson.
"We're just trying to hold these houses you know, the fire jumped all over the place, so we're doing a little firing to get it back on our terms," said Alaska Division of Forestry Firefighter Paul Pellegrini.
"If we get any spots and stuff blows over the ridge behind us-- where it falls, it's going to fall into black so hopefully that will help protect these homes that are in this little low spot," said Grapevine Firefighter Darrell Brown.
"A lot of people leave firewood, stuff like that right up next to the house, so one thing we do is come in here, try to clear all that stuff, move it away from the house because that's usually the first thing that catches fire," said Hurst Firefighter Lt. Robert Poynter.
"Here, being such a wide, open-area terrain and wind-driven fire carries across here with such a wide fire line that it's kind of hard to get a judge at how far this thing is moving," said Sequoia National Forest Firefighter Jerry Olson.
Okay, so that's 5 guys and ZERO women. So it'd be far more accurate to say that it's MEN on the front lines, risking their lives to protect the public. How about acknowledging their contributions? How about acknowledging the fact that it's men who do all the most dangerous jobs, sacrificing their lives for the greater good? I haven't seen or heard of ONE female firefighter fighting these blazes, yet you continue to talk about how "men and women" are fighting the blazes, you disingenuous misandric bastards. If there is even one woman firefighter actually fighting these blazes on the front lines, there are 20 men on the front lines with her, so let's acknowledge and appreciate men for their contribution without insinuating that they are only HALF when they are all or almost all of the firefighters fighting these blazes.
