Unfortunately this has likely hurt his career irrevocably and probably not taught the school a thing (they most likely make more than 50k per student). Also he likely brought up a very important flaw in the policy which most likely would've cost them a lot more money if someone actually decided to sue.

most sexual harassment policies are so vaguely written that either don't prevent harassment or they make everyone so nervous they can't adequately communicate on the job.

The next day, according to Thibeault's complaint, "Smith began a retaliatory crusade against Thibeault. Smith summoned numerous EGC faculty and staff members to her office and demanded that they provide information about their interactions with Thibeault during his tenure with EGC." The day after that, Thibeault was summoned to President Black's office. According to Thibeault's written account of the meeting, which Black received and to our knowledge never disputed, Black told Thibeault that he "was a divisive force in the college" and that he must resign by 11:30 a.m. that day or be fired and have his supposed "long history of sexual harassment ... made public."

Ah, so they had themselves an old fashioned witch hunt. On secodn thought, it sounds a lot like Scientology ousting what they call a "suppressive person". Their language was eerily simlar too with calling him a "divisive force".

He was awarded $50,000, but it took 2 years and it appears the fascists who abused their power and ran him out are still free to do that to anyone else who doesn't toe the line.

is there text of what he said in his criticism?

i haven't read the article or anything else about this case, but am i correct in assuming a professor was fired for saying something . . . in a place (college) where you are supposed to criticize ideas.

Academic tenure is primarily intended to guarantee the right to academic freedom: it protects teachers and researchers when they dissent from prevailing opinion, openly disagree with authorities of any sort, or spend time on unfashionable topics.
