This is partially inspired by this post

which raised some questions for me about what MensRights actually believes.

First let me state some issues I care about:

  • Disparity in how domestic & sexual abuse is viewed when men are victims

  • Inequality in child support / divorce law / custody difficulties

  • How male circumcision is unthinkingly accepted as normal

  • Social stigma against men who are not breadwinners / don't have traditionally male carees (male nurses)

  • The idea that all men are rapists in waiting

  • The idea all men are child rapists in waiting

  • Lack of protection for men accused of the above

  • Disparity in sentencing for male offenders of most crimes

  • Mistruths and misinformation surrounding the "wage gap"

However I am not "strongly opposed to feminism". I think most thinking feminists are more on our side than they realize. At it's best both of our goals are to reduce sexism, we can move towards equality without taking things away from each other.

Feminism a collection of movements aimed at defining, establishing, and defending equal political, economic, and social rights and equal opportunities for women.

Don't attack people for being feminists, attack them for being sexist. Point out the disconnect between what they say they want & what they demand (when there is one).

edit: One area feminism failed was self policing their crazies, I hope we can do the same before we are defined by them.
