Are you for or against this article? It doesn't say that she's picked on, it says that her femaleness is given too much focus. It says that she attracts political attacks that would never be levelled at men, but also that she gets an easier time of other issues thanks to being female. That rings pretty true to me.

This is their end premise:

Margaret Thatcher was always seen as a woman. Ditto Angela Merkel of Germany, and Burma’s Aung San Suu Kyi. But it became an incidental fact as attention shifted to how they did their jobs, not how their chromosomes were arranged.

I'm cool with that. You can't deny that media and political attention has focused on Gillard's womanhood when really nobody should give a damn about how fashionable her hairstyle is or whether or not she has children. Those are just political side-steps, quick and empty snarky remarks. No legitimate criticisms of her leadership are attacked by way of 'don't pick on a girl' - that would be a 'sex card' play.

I think the issue is not so much that she is woman... but that she is a red head. and has no soulllll!
