This has more to do with religious zealots than it does with the subjugation of men by women. And just because they existed doesn't mean that the vast majority of boys will have been familiar with having to wear one.

I myself choose to wear one, because I'm odd that way.

The thing that really astounds me is that these devices are still around, though they're primarily used for fetish play (which is fine with me...adults can do whatever they want to their own genitals). I mean, when I saw the Jugum, my first thought was of the Kali's Teeth Bracelet.
