If we're going to delve into female psychology (usually a perilous journey), I figure what pleases them most is that these actions symbolize a man's love to them. They reassure women, who are often insecure, that their mates really do love them because they are thinking about them.

Yes, somehow you have to find the line between being slavish, where everything becomes expected and unappreciated, and indifferent. Originality, rather than repetition, helps.

Actually they want a dog.

1 Remembering my middle name and/or my birthday
2 Taking my purse while I’m struggling to get my coat on or off
3 Remembering what I said I wanted to order and telling the waiter himself
4 Knowing my complicated drink down to the last detail
5 Giving me the pillow I most prefer to sleep with
6 Asking if the room is too cold, which is especially appreciated when I’m naked
7 Remembering I liked a certain band and ordering tickets to see them as a surprise
8 Getting me the paper on Sunday mornings
9 Reading a book I said was my favorite. Ditto for movies.
10 Carrying my heavy bag without me asking
11 Randomly getting me my favorite candy
12 Fighting off strangers to save me a seat next to him at the bar

This isn't chivalry. When did the term get so corrupted. Chivalry was based on a code - a contract. Now it is used to mean any behavior where men just defer to women and utterly absolving women of any responsibility to it. Chivalry is for both genders. It isn't supposed to be a mechanism to control men with.

This is advertising your beta status - to be used and abused.

This title disgusts and saddens me.

I'm a man, and if my girlfriend did any of these(except for probably 2 and 10), I would be impressed. This is less about 'chivalry' (or whatever bastardized version of chivalry this title refers to) and more about showing that you care about your significant other, enough to put small bits of effort into making them happy, and expecting no reward or compensation.
