Meh, I hear that all the time... the whole "I too hate /r/mensrights, but in the instance of <blank> they are right"

Few want to publicly identify as an MRA, even though most posters (except frothing feminists) still agree with our stance on the issues.

There are all kinds of patterns like that:

Posters coming here with "You're acting like feminists do!" - but do they go to /r/feminisms to say "you're acting like MRA's!" Hell no, and they'd get banned if they did.
The whole NAWALT thing of "You can't say ALL women have breasts. Some women don't! Stop generalizing!"
The argument-by-assumption "You can't seriously be trying to say that women aren't incredibly worse off than men!"
The double-standard of "Women need a safe place free of men to discuss issues without oppressive speech. Men can't have that because it would be a misogynist den." - and how many feminists just have to come here, nitpick every detail, and tell us all we are wrong?
The just plain ignorant and uninformed statements like "Men control most of the wealth, do better in school, live longer, commit suicide less, are the only sexual abusers, and are the much larger perpetrators of domestic violence"
Also the feminist attempts to warp "MRA's are opposed to false-rape accusations" into "MRA's want to defend men raping everybody and everything with impunity"
Finally as that link points out - Anytime we try to bring up a blatant inequality, the feminists try to handwave it away with "maybe, but <other issue> means women are worse off and that's more important."

Are you insane? I never said I hate mens rights, and I really really feel for you. I hope men do get to have sole custody of their kids when they're the better parent. I think that falsely reporting rape is awful and that no guy should have to suffer through that. The women who do that ARE bitches. I don't think at all that voicing concern for male victims somehow equates to marginalizing female victims. I just wish we heard the other side of the story sometimes. I feel like this group is on the ready to challenge rape victims and while a healthy dose of that is absolutely necessary to avoid false claims, I think like this group can easily get carried away. Like right now.

The misogyny to which I was referring was a whole ball of problems, of which the imbalance of reporting is only one. It also includes the fact that any woman who appears in a picture is immediately made into fapping material and degraded. Another example is that I can't leave one comment voicing my opinion without having it attacked by men who have completely ignored the actual point I was making and filtered it through their past-experiences-of-women-saying-things-like-this lens.
Reddit is a community, above all else, and that's awesome most of the time. But you guys are so ready to come to the defense and protect your pack that I feel like a lot of you go on the internet ready for a fight; ready to defend your tribe. Did you hear the tone in that guy's replies? All the bolding and the capsing and the italicizing? And how he kept calling me "you people"? That guy was on the edge of his chair LOVING tearing into me and clearly more involved in what he was saying than in having any sort of rational discussion. If that was your girlfriend talking to you in that dramatic tone in real life, you'd tell her to go away and calm down before continuing the conversation. This has been taken way too far based on a belief that I don't even have.

.edit. Just saw the top post. I am not a "frothing feminist" and I think that's exactly the kind of thing I'm talking about here. Men see women under headings and not as individuals with different opinions than others in the category they fall under. .edit. Correction: "The men involved in this conflict..."

Feminist: DV against women is horrible! X: It's bad, but Ethiopian's have it worse Feminist: PATRIARCHAL OPPRESSOR!!!

X: DV against men is bad. Feminist: Women have it WORSE!!!!

Some feminists (most on reddit) hate it when people don't reply to women accusing their partner of DV with empathy, yet continuously marginalise men's experiences of DV with "Women have it worse".

Do these people not realise that you can show concern for more than one group without sacrificing any of the original concern you had for the first group?
