I grew up with no father (he died at a young age) and my step-dad wasn't really that reliable. So I've been my whole life a boy who seeks the greater truth, I wanted to understand things in a objective way, to foremost grow to be a fair and better person.

In my youth we were neo-punks (or wth you want to call it), we were into hardcore punk, anarchism, political philosophy, animal rights and all that jazz. And with all that came radical feminism as well, the "isms" was all over the place and keeping up with it all was almost impossible. I got a lot of fanzines and propaganda leaflets about feminism, and believed every single word of it. I felt like a horrible person for being a man, I started hating myself more and more and trying to improve myself to be more "equal" in the eyes of women. This also hurt my confidence a whole lot, I constantly felt that I'd never be this man they were referring to. The leaflets featured different facial expression of men and women, and compared them how men's expression show courage and the female shows fear. And so on. A lot of my close friends, and acquaintances, is still feminist and even work with "gender equality". This worries me and makes me happy. Some of them understand the importance of mens rights and get where I'm coming from, and some do not. Some or most of them have taken their benevolent feminism to heart and accept misandry, they loathe "men" but no man they know. Men are the scum of the earth and that's that, that is their reasoning.

Nonetheless, I want to give my huge thank you for this subreddit. Before I found MensRights I had looked up some info on the issue, 'cause I felt in my heart that something wasn't completely right with feminism. I just felt that something was missing or completely untrue about the whole thing. But now I've found a "home".

So thank you all for contributing to shining a light on this important issue that I've come to make a personal issue and battle. This is very important in this time and age. Thank you!
