The Women's march is all over the media, because most of the media hate Trump. A Men's march wouldn't get that sort of coverage unless it was also anti-Trump.

I think it's good to have AMAs in r/IAMA where they can be seen by a much larger audience, But in the end, someone has to organise them, and I no longer have the energy. There's nothing stopping anyone organising an AMA of their own.

It doesn't seem like anyone is questioning the existence of the message, so I won't bother getting up and walking over to my PC to post it. I did save it to the drive anyway, so it's there just in case it's ever needed. :)

That's not really the point. The Guardian is a horrible paper and if it goes broke because nobody is willing to pay to read it's vile sexist drivel, that would be a good thing. The delicious irony is that people who love reading it aren't willing to pay for it.

I have it on my screen, but I need to go before I can work out how to take a screenshot on this tablet. I'll bring it up on my PC and post it when I get home.

I hope it's true. Couldn't happen to a more deserving hate group. Unfortunately I, too, have not yet learned the lesson - screenshot everything, right away, because the MSM are quick to cover up their mistakes.

Just a suggestion - from the thumbnail, this post looks like it's only an advice animal. Some people might not click on it because of that. Please consider removing this post, and reposting it with a headline that indicates there's more than just a picture.

Some progress, with a reasonable article in the mainstream media. It may not be perfect, but it's an indication that the social landscape is gradually shifting.

I didn't read the NYT article itself - just a report that it had been attacked for that. I failed to fact-check that, so I could be wrong. As for Carrie Fisher's scene in the Blues Brothers, I know it happened because I saw the film, more than once. She's the chick in the sewer with the M-16.

Yes, the one with the bronze bikini. Though looking back, I also remember her first meeting with Darth Vader and her scene in the Blues Brothers as notable.

OS's account has been suspended, not shadowbanned. Suspension of accounts is a new admin action that is less drastic than shadowbanning. It would seem to imply that a suspension could be lifted at admin discretion.
/r/MensRights13/12/16 03:35 AM

Your user page says that your account is suspended, not permanently banned. You could politely contact the admins, and ask them what needs to happen for the suspension to be lifted.

In a sexual situation, when someone says "No" - stop right there. That's the time to stop, right then. Beyond that, it gets wrong and illegal. If you want to talk about it, that's fine. But no touching after the word "no" is uttered.

It's pretty much what we can expect from the mainstream. But three are many thousands of viewers, and some of them will start to think about this in a new way. Every bit helps. Does anyone know who the man being interviewed is?
/r/MensRights02/12/16 02:55 AM
3

The guy wasn't perfect, but I think overall he came off very well. It's a great achievement in these times for him to get on TV at all! Most viewers will stick with the mainstream opinion , but there will be a significant fraction of the audience who take it seriously and think about it - and that's a very good thing. The big question for me is - who is this bloke, and how can we help him improve?
/r/MensRights02/12/16 02:50 AM

Maybe you could contact the Greens and tell them that. They might still be in shock enough from Trump's win to listen a little bit. I will contact them too.
/r/MensRights28/11/16 05:44 AM
2

Waters will ignore you. But it's a great idea to contact every Greens office and officeholder about it. Actually, if you could make a list of all the Greens to contact, and make a fresh post, I (and probably many others) will contact them as well!
/r/MensRights28/11/16 05:40 AM

It's still a decent article. On Buzzfeed especially, you'd expect a snarky, sarcastic putdown.
/r/MensRights28/11/16 05:32 AM
11

Yeah, same here. In fact I was one of the founding members of a State branch. I left them when they became misandrist. I have voted for conservative parties since 1993, not because I'm a political conservative but because the "progressive" ones all hate men.
/r/MensRights27/11/16 10:12 AM

Amazing speech, and a great article - from Buzzfeed, of all places! I wrote an email praising the author. I will probably send an email of support to the Senator as well. People who stand up for men and boys should be praised and encouraged.
/r/MensRights27/11/16 03:39 AM

Nevertheless, saying "Heil" doesn't make one a fascist, any more than saying "moo" makes one a cow. I'm unaware of the civil war you mention, since I'm not involved in either group, but I'll take your word that it exists. I don't really know how to classify the MRM politically. It has members who identify themselves as being in numerous parts of the political spectrum. As long as someone cares about men's rights, they're an MRA as far as I'm concerned.
/r/MensRights27/11/16 02:45 AM

Don't get so carried away about a joke video. It's just a parody of the way the Left sees Trump supporters - and you're an example of who they are parodying.

I have (and others) have personally called out the admins on this, and they have refused to respond. Try booking an ad on r/mensrights, then asking if it won't go through.

Try placing an ad on r/mensrights. It will tell you that it is bookked out toll 2017. The admins will not answer questions about this.
/r/MensRights10/08/16 03:22 AM

I've promoted this sub on three subreddit ads at a cost of $100 each. I don't consider it a very efficient use of money. I refuse to advertise on reddit since the admins blocked advertising on r/mensrights a couple of years ago. The best use of money at this time would be sponsoring independent men's rights media that can't be shut down by censorship

/r/MensRights03/06/16 03:29 AM

This is a bad approach. It relies on the assumption that feminists consciously and knowingly want to kill men. In most cases this will be untrue, and your argument will immediately be derailed into a discussion of what feminists want.

Hmm, good question. I don't think one word that is not likely to be widely used would have much impact. However, introducing a poweful new word - sexism - into common usage has had a massive effect on society. Feminists are still trying to follow up their success with that one.

I suggest you just remove the word, so discussion win't be derailed. The use of "cuck" should have a thread of its own.
/r/MensRights17/05/16 09:26 PM

I don't like the "cuck" word. But there's no need to be nasty straight off the mark. Point out that it's offensive to some people and ask that it not be used.

On bad days it can feel that way. But people who think in terms of genocide are usually just venting rage, or wackaloons with no power. It's disturbing that sometimes they do get into power, and things like Wannsee become a reality. We need constant vigilance to prevent the wackaloons getting that type of power.

I've never seen 'apex fallacy' used prior to that Smith/Chapin interview. That may indeed be the origin of the term. Of course its validity depends not on origin, but applicability. It's valid because it represents a real phenomenon.

Actually this account was eventually banned because its owner did not continue the discussion in good faith. After receiving the reasoned refutation it demanded, it responded only with childish insults, thus revealing itself as a time-wasting troll. We don't ban people merely for disagreeing with us, but if their behaviour shows that they are more interested in behaving offensively than in reasonable debate they can be banned.

Perhaps our society has sublimated violence into a multitude of outlets. Men can compete in areas like getting a big income, making important scientific discoveries - at least, if they're upper class or middle class. Too bad for those in the poorer classes, who often look to violence as a quick and dirty method of gaining status. In single mother families, boys may be deprived of good male role models, exasperating the problem.

Dating is more relevant to pick up artists and red pill enthusiasts. Men's rights is about social, political and legal discrimination against men. Tinder might influence men's rights by changing the sexual value marketplace, but so far nobody has brought that up. So what are we actually discussing in this thread?

This post is stickied because it demonstrates ways that even one person can promote a good cause. Despite not winning this first bathroom battle, u/GeneralRax made sure that the issue got wide attention and is now part of the school's culture. New activists are springing up, and beginning to organise the social activism of the future.

Some feminists portray MRAs as basement dwelling, fedora wearing fat neckbeards. This is just the other side of that coin. Every social movement will contain some examples of "ugly people", and every social movement will attempt to portray its opponentsvas ugly. It's just the usual political noise.

He claims to have such a database, but so far there is no evidence that it exists. In any case, promoting one is against reddit rules.
/r/MensRights21/04/16 01:51 AM

Reddit is relevant if posts on reddit forums link to the database. Anyone can make a database outside of reddit, but it would be against reddit rules to link or promote it. Theoretical discussions about the effects and ethics of databases would be okay. But linking to one would not be okay. We've gotten in trouble from admins over doing that in the past, so now we don't do that any more.

/r/MensRights20/04/16 10:26 AM

u/thatismyapp has been spamming the sub with crap about making a database with the names of women accused of wrongdoing. That would violate reddit's privacy rules, and so it is not allowed. Your proposed app doesn't appear to do anyting except record the user's own actions, and so would not fail the doxxing test. Recording your own activities is not doxxing.

If all men suddenly disappeared, most western women would be dead within a month. The entire infrastructure of our society was invented, built and sustained by men. Without men there would be a complete collapse - no electricity, no truck drivers to deliver food to the cities, no gas, no running water, and so on. It's radical feminists we could do without, not men.

That's a fascinating rationale both for intellectual and strategic reasons. As the women's movement continues to grow, so should the male part. The men who built the richest civilisation, ever, won't just let it go - though that would be a Solomonic tale for the ages! Instead, I think we're seeing the infancy of complementary movements that are themselves about nuch more than tools than politics.

And since that belief is based on a falsitude, feminism is doomed to extinction. The only question is when, and what comes after that.
/r/MensRights24/02/16 11:32 AM

I have increasingly come to believe that the number of women who commit false accusations are equal to the number of men who commit the actual crime. Think about it; men are not any more evil than women, and women no better than men. Why should we believe that one half of the human race is incapable of lying about just one specific thing, and no other? It would be as absurd as saying that men can never tell a lie about gold. There's a reason feminists are working so hard to convince people that …

There is definitely political fixing going on at Google. In 2004, two political images that I had created were at the top of the image search for "Michael Moore", and had been in the same position for about a year. The election season began, and the images were erased completely from google overnight. They didn't just drop in rank - they were gone from google results, even though they were still on the server. The only question in my mind is whether these acts of political sabotage are carried o…

I like the idea of using some of their own tactics against them. But not all their tactics. Telling lies, banning the expression of ideas, and blaming an entire gender collectively are three feminist tactics we should never use, and there are probably more. Much of my own thinking about sex discrimination was facilitated by concepts that I learned from feminists. The idea of equality between the sexes was something I had before I encountered feminist thought, but the mechanics of structural disc…

I think the chances of V-day actually being repurposed are slim to none. It's more of a publicity stunt to give the issue visibility. If there's a lot of kickback, we can take the women's feelings into account and change the date, because after all we are the good guys. Then it's up to the feminists to justify why they are still trying to make it a day of hate.
/r/MensRights11/02/16 03:56 PM

It's criminals being attacked, not women. However, some women might be made to feel uncomfortable. The blind support of feminist oppression isn't going to end by itself. It will have to be uncomfortable to be a misandrist for change to take place. In this connection, it should be noted that for a decade, feminists internationally have been usurping the purpose of this day to promote the Vagina Monologues and its narrative of hatred. It takes a special kind of cruelty to do that to the one day th…

I don't have enough evidence to prove he's a rapist, and he may well be perfectly innocent. My comment was one of those 'hit save now, engage brain later' type things. It was a brain-farted attempt to suggest that Roosh was in no position to start a shitfight because more shit would end up sticking to him. So yeah, not my proudest moment.

Very briefly - it's sparring practice. Every MRA who debates feminists outside this subreddit will get all of these arguments thrown at them, and worse. The point of this exercise is to give our users practical experience in dealing with feminists, because at some point they will need to know how. This thread is a relatively safe arena for that purpose, with lots of moral support which just won't be there when campaigning for real. There's a reason why we don't have this subreddit as a dissent-f…

I used to be fairly left wing some years ago. I thought the Left of politics was based on principles of equal rights for everyone. This turned out not to be true. DV Connect Di Mangan chief executive said with statistics showing one woman every week was murdered in Australia and three hospitalised from head injuries caused during domestic violence incidents, the focus could not be taken away from them. “We can’t let the facts stop us from telling the story as we know it but we do want to acknowledge there’s some men who have protective concerns about their children and they have a right to be heard as well,” she said. The men's rights movement, like feminism, has a theoretical basis that underlies and seeks to justify its demands. However, the development of feminist theory is vastly more advanced than that of the MRM. Billions of dollars each year are spent on employing feminist academics and journalists to create and distribute feminist ideas. We have a long way to catch up. Further development of men's rights theory will be stimulated by discussion of posts such as this one.

The link to the FAQ is already a permanent sticky, if you look at the top of the page. I think there are better uses for the green stickies, which get changed every few days anyway. Some of them might hit the wrong note, but even in these cases we get discussion. The MRM is still an extremely young movement which has not developed a thorough theoretical base or a very effective range of tactics. At this stage, wide ranging discussion of topics both big and small is very important.

Bowing down in the face of aggression is not 'being the bigger person'. Speaking out and working to end the oppression is the right way to go.

If that's what 'real feminists' are about, they're not saying it very loudly. Of couse, words are one thing - and actions are much more important. To date, there have been very few examples of feminists helping men who suffer from inequality.
/r/MensRights16/12/15 08:11 AM

It's already happening. Feminists pursue careers and don't tend to have many children. On the other hand, traditionalist religious women regard childbearing as a primary duty. The future belongs to those who turn up.

Feminism turned men into the other and vilified them for sixty years. It's hard to come back from that.

You're femsplaining. You're denying the lived experience of white males and trying to impose your own ideology on them.
/r/MensRights16/12/15 07:58 AM

Feminism is an ideology based on the false notion that men exploit and oppress women. Naturally, feminists see men as enemies, and attack them in any way they can. It's gone way past the point that feminism can claim it is fighting against sexism. Feminism is fighting against men, and is itself the biggest source of institutionalized sexism in the world today.

Identity politics contributes nothing but waste and oppression. It can only exist as a parasite on an extremely wealthy society which can afford its cost. If things get to the point that the economy begins to stagnate or collapse, then identity politics will no longer be sustainable and the parasitic entity will shrink. See also The Misandry Bubble.

I cope by mostly ignoring mainstream media. They don't often cover the news that I seek, and many of them are shameless liars. With the Internet, it's possible to select your own media - and even to produce your own! The mensrights subreddit can be quite depressing sometimes. It is, after all, dedicated to raising awareness of bad things. Take a break fom it when it gets you down. Exercise and getting out in the sunshine can also help a lot. If you start to feel like you don't want to be alive, …

Sorry that my words were a little harsh. I do think, however, that we should welcome inquiries about our stance on issues, no matter how "suspicious " they may be. I'm also a former lefty and former feminist. Over years of working in the political scene, it became incresingly obvious that the feminist movement was not interested in gender equality. It was a movement that wanted to tear down men and create a gender-based underclass. So I started on the path of men's rights activism. The Left had become a hotbed of hatred against men, and so I changed my personal politics accordingly.

It's important to keep in mind that, while there are many injustices and tragedies, most first world people are not directly affected. The news media, and yes, this subreddit too - show up the most extreme and unusual events because that's what gets people watching. If you're reasonably careful, most of it won't affect you. I feel just a bit skeptical of this number. While there is without doubt violence in both directions, I find it difficult to believe that so many Saudi men would be able to overcome their local cultural expectations to the extent of admitting they were victims. In a society where women are legally subordinate to men, any man who was abused would face enormous shame from having that situation known to the outside world. That is to say, I can believe that half a million Saudi men are victims of vi…

That's true, though it's rather a special case. I kind of feel that it's an 'easy way out' of a greater commitment to doing things other than on the Internet. When I was younger and healthier I did quite a bit of 'real world' activism, but I don't have that feeling of rage against injustice thaat used to drive me. I'm a bit embarrassed at sitting in my comfort zone, as it were.

The report also suggests that autism/maleness may be correlated with success in STEM fields. Plus there is evidence for the theory that the male brain is more susceptible to genetic mutations than the female. All this, of course, is of relevance to the current gender-political bunfight over male/female ratios in elite professions.

I'm not entirely sure that this belongs here. However, feminism has made sexual interaction of any kind inseparable from its zero-sum politics, and so there is a controversy. I am not a fan of whistling or catcalling, and I don't do it. I have been on the receiving end of this behaviour from girls - only once, I'm not that attractive - and my main reactions were of confusion and embarrassment. Public behaviour of this kind is wrong, in my opinion. But as this article shows, there are other opini…

Putting my money where my mouth is - this month I've committed $50 to the Red Pill kickstarter. For my thirty minutes, I'm not sure what I'll do yet, but I'm thinking about it. Maybe I could make some small stickers using a laser printer and label sheets. Or I could do some volunteer work for a charity that helps men. Or I could take legal steps to ensure that, in the event of my death, a portion of my estate will be donated to men's activist groups. Bequests are one of the most effective ways t…

If the same approach was applied to the MRM we would be judged by (Insert name of extreme behaviour attributed to MRAs here) and vilified. Not really. Feminism should be judged by its overall outputs in terms of its effects on society. That's quite different from picking on the most extreme elements. Likewise, the MRM should be judged in terms of its net effect on society - which at the moment isn't large, though it is growing.

The violence is religious in motivation, not gendered. Also, your headline implies that the police were looking for excuses for the perpetrators - there is nothing in the article to suggest this. Thousands of men are murdered every year. The fact that a victim is male does not make it a gender issue. There is nothing in the story to suggest that the victims were murdered because of their maleness.

/r/MensRights15/10/15 02:13 AM

Feminists claim that "toxic masculinity" is just a technical term used in social science, and that it's not meant to have a negative connotation. But consider how obsessed they are with every implication of every word. Fireman bad, firefighter good. Chairman bad, chairperson good. Ban bossy. And so on. Feminists pay extreme attention to the implications of a word. So they know damn well that "toxic masculinity" is a gendered slur. They use it deliberately, insulting men while claiming that they …

The problem is that you should not have linked this off-topic news story with its off-topic title. The entire substance of your post is contained in the comment, and the link is superfluous. I have removed the post. Please post the comment as a text post, with an approptiate title.

You were being too provocative - setting yourself up for a flame war which duly appeared. Being less extreme and explaining your ideas one at a time would probably have been more successful. By the way, any brigading attempt from an outside group would only make the situation worse

The main theme of the documentary is about a feminist looking behind all the hate propaganda, to see what the MRM is really about. If that's the narrative, then the different meanings of "the red pill" ought to be explained. Since so many object to the current title, I wonder if we could come up with a better idea.
/r/MensRights13/10/15 04:46 AM

Fair enough. I just got the impression that the title didn't quite sit right with the text. But maybe I'm wrong. Have a good one!

I'm not sure why you think it's funny. Most of those points you listed are quite reasonable in themselves. Of course, the track record of feminist groups in achieving "equality" is ludicrous. But if you want people to take your criticism seriously, you need to explain why these seemingly laudable goals are hilarious.

More of an insight into what female feminists think about a body part they don't have. I get the impression that feminists are far more obsessed with genitals than most men, and that they project this obsession onto males

All of the paragraph is contrary to the ideals of the movement. There is nothing on that page which represents a mainstream view of the MRM. Our policies regarding reprod7ctive rights are based on freeing men from forced choices made by women - not forcing women to submit to choices made by men.

Judging by the carefully erased posting histoty of the OP, I'd say we may have a troll here. The fact that the article is ten years old contributes to this impression. Be that as it may, the question raised is an interesting one. It's virtually the opposite of the financial abortion policies that are held by the MRM. I wonder if somene was trying to misrepresent what we're about?
/r/MensRights06/10/15 11:42 AM

Good article, and it's open for comments. Here's mine. David Dubay raises many good points. When women talk about their problems, we listen with sympathy. But if men speak about their issues, we ignore them - or worse, we mock them for their weakness. Society puts a lot of effort into telling men how to behave. Perhaps it's time to ask men how they feel as well.

I've seen the idea get kicked around a bit recently, but I can't recall an essay specifically about it. Perhaps there will be references as this thread develops. You have been shadowbanned by reddit admins (not by mensrights moderators). See /r/ShadowBan for information about shadowbans. I have approved this comment so I can reply to you. It seems Reddit has a bot that looks for certain types of user behaviour that indicate spamming or brigading. Sometimes innocent users get shadowbanned along with the bad guys. Usually they can fix this if they contact the admins.

Men have a right to privacy in workplace bathrooms. I doubt this sort of arrangement would be acceptable if male janitors were constantly in and out of a female bathroom. Relax, it's just a sticky.

Why not? It's an example of a workplace issue, and good suggestions for dealing with it could be used in other situations. Also, I'm wating for another post to make sticky, and this one makes a decent slot filler.

I think this video is particularly relevant to both feminism and men's rights, because it clearly explains some of the dynamics that keep the arguments about both going. Being aware of such things can bring about improved clarity of thought. This in turn helps us to achieve our goals, rather than just sharing our anger. If you don't want to watch the video, here's the text: Hello Internet. Thoughts compete for space in your brain: cat photos, news stories, beliefs structures, funny GIFs, educati…

I think the man was at the very least being rude, when the woman made it clear that she didn't want to talk. This does not strike me as a men's rights issue at all. He was intruding on her privacy. Asking a stranger for their address is not an appropriate social opening in this situation.

This is relevant to men's rights because of cases such as the 19-year old who became a registered sex offender because a girl lied about her age. Jury nullification could help prevent such obvious injustices, and should be part of the men's rights platform.

No, I don't. This is just a guy acting genuinely creepy with a small child. It's borderline pedo stuff. Also, a random man getting in trouble isn't necessarily about men's rights. The rights issue is society-wide discrimination. We have more important things to worry about than some 34 year old's "right" to give wet willies to other people's small children. That just makes us look bad.

Sorry, but we don't allow posts about being banned from feminist subreddits, because there are too many of them.

Sorry, but this breaches our policy against advocating violence (even if it's not serious), so I have to remove it.

That's a good question. We'll just have to wait and see.

We have actually been threatened with banning by one of the admins in the past. That admin is no longer working with reddit, but it's good to hear something definite from the CEO. If they won't ban r/coontown, they're extremely unlikely to ban us. Of course, we will need to keep our strict non-harassment policy.

Example answer: Sure. /r/rapingwomen will be banned. They are encouraging people to rape. /r/coontown will be reclassified. The content there is offensive to many, but does not violate our current rules for banning. If they won't ban r/coontown, they probably won't ban us. Also, please don't vote in the linked threads.

Nevertheless, this particular campaign mentions a couple of instances of misandry. I've linked it because it's a good example of how to campaign, which we should emulate.

You're not responsible for the way other people reacted to your post. It was just getting out of hand, with people saying she ought to be killed, and so on.

I've been looking for a while for legitimate statistics about rape that doesn't fit the standard male-on-female, because discussing that there are other types of rape that do occur is still for some reason a very taboo subject. If anyone has access to those please send them my way. It's unlikely that many people will see this comment. I suggest that you make a separate post asking your question.

I don't think it's a good idea to use falsehoods of any kind. We should stick to the truth, and let feminists lose their credibility as their lies are exposed.

I have no idea at all. Only the admins can answer that question.

Because that might lead to some of our subscribers going over to the relevant subreddit and brigading it.

Quite a lot of SJWs have openly stated the desire to commit genocide upon those groups they hate. The main difference is that they don't currently have the power to carry out such programs.

You did nothing wrong. I was just reminding readers not to behave in such a way as would bring trouble with the admins. A screenshot would be good, but NP links are fine too - the exception being links to an argument in which the OP has participated, since that would imply calling for a brigade.
