It is also activism purely to see society for what it is and hold these truths. Every single person who opts out of the problems going on is one more person doing the right thing and understanding what is really going on.

Imagine twenty years from now, with no successes in - let's say family court and divorce court. The marriage rate will hover around 20%, that last spartan holdout from heavily Christian areas. Men in general simply won't be marrying, because the knowledge is getting out there through us that it's a goddamn horrible mess for a man. Women are already wondering "where the good men are" - imagine 20 more years down the line when marriage is off the table completely. They will be clamoring for divorce reform because we will have opted out of their wealth transfer scheme.

Now let's imagine no successes on the college and career fronts. 20 years from now, colleges will be 75% female / 25% male. Women will be making more across the board. The feminist victim narrative will have completely imploded - feminists will sound like Todd Akin sounds to us now. Those women succeeding will have no partners whatsoever, since women (and people in general, let's be honest) don't partner downward. Those women will push for education reforms and business reforms because we opted out of their wealth transfer scheme.

My point? Knowledge is activism. Opting out is activism.

The people that are accusing us of not doing enough activism, are usually feminist slactivists.

There is no right activism for us to do as far as they are concerned anyway, were this area a hot bed of activism, the activism itself would be deemed incorrect.

the reason that i don't go to casino's is the same why i'm reluctant to get married. you're playing a rigged game.

why would i want to pay alimony to someone that can functionally support themselves, using the system as a method of revenge?

in order to support myself i have to insist upon a pre-nup? and many find this to be insulting because i'm not willing to bet it all on you being the one for me? why would i wager that given other relationships that have failed previously?

things are skewed. the laws should change. perception should change. that is where the women's revolution failed. they forgot about equality. but i can't really blame them. we just need to point out that they can't reasonably expect to keep the cake if this is what they want. nope. equality is equal.

This forum is far far more powerful that you may think it is. I often hear derision poured forth against internet posters. "You need a hobby. You are just in yur moms basement and therefore you are a stupid child." Even from within the ranks. "Thats not activism. You should get off your lazy butts and do real activism like me!"

Please pay no heed to these words. THIS. These communities of "lazy activists" are the most powerful. They create "force multipliers", to steal the military jargon, that incrementally grow the meme of true parity person by person, convert by convert.

Every person who has read a comment from one of you, or another of you, or that guy over there in all CAPS, every person has had their mind shaped by your words and some of them now write their own argments. Its grows and grows.

It took many, many years for Feminist groups to gather enough people to effect change.

Look at how fast we have grown in the last 4 years - this subreddit has gone from 1000 people 4 years ago to almost 50 000 now. It takes time, and we are making progress - absolutely.

There are things we have accomplished as a sub, things we are accomplishing as individuals and as a sub, and things we can accomplish by broadening our spectrum of activity.

Not everyone has to do the same thing, or do any one thing or set of things all the time, in order to have an effect, and sometimes the effect can be quite subtle. Blogging, for instance, can result in finding your writing and political cartoons discussed in blogs and social bookmarking sites that are written from the other side of the world from where you live. It's not a massive accomplishment, but it is an unexpected spread of information and a chance to affect debate and discussion which might otherwise never have been exposed to your ideas.

Letter-writing is another one. It may seem small and ineffective, but there are over 48,000 of us (and counting.) It would not be hard to demonstrate a strong "public opinion" presence to any entity using a letter-writing campaign.

That said, I do agree that we should have a backup plan, a communication center outside of reddit, where we can regroup if angry opponents of men's civil rights are able to get the sub censored.

I hate to say this, but the sites best suited to serve the community are other social networking sites.

Facebook could handle daily use by a group with this many members. The site allows for the creation of open groups and closed groups, so that there could be a main group for general discussion and more carefully monitored groups for meta or targeted-topic discussion (like legal questions and advice.) There would also be the added benefit of nonexistence of karma points, so if posts are being added strictly for that reason here, incentive for that would be lost. Though the site now requires new accounts to have "real" names, it would not be impossible for users to do something like this anonymously. It is not that hard to come up with a workable fake "real" name.

Gather.com could also handle daily use by a group this size, and it would be possible to share posts and links there which would be searchable on Google the way they are here. The format there is entirely different, (kind of a cross between a networking site and a blogging site) making it possible to "cross-post" to a lot of topic-labeled groups at once. Sorting and finding of posts is more of a sequential thing within each of the group(s) post rather than a popularity thing... though Gather does have a karma-like popularity system involving recommendation of people's work, which can affect the visibility of group posts by members outside the group. The community is one which contains both elements that would be friendly to the group, and elements that will be as hostile to the group as some on reddit. The site does not require real names or any other real identification. However, when posting images and news stories, it's important to take note of copyrighted material, as the site does enforce an anti-infringement policy. The only other warning I would give along with that suggestion is that Gather.com is the site that censored my series on the legal harassment of a friend of mine by his ex-wife. The mods there are extremely lawsuit-shy. That means the posting of information which could be accused of pointing back to a real person could lead to site censorship. That is what got me censored there.

Those are the two sites with which I have decent familiarity... I am sure there are other options, but in the event of need for back up, I think either of them would work as a place to regroup and continue moving forward.
