Interesting. This is similar to the situation with asset forfeiture in the drug war. Incentivizing government bureaucracies is probably not a good idea.

It seems that as a father, if you're not married to the mother and on VERY good terms with her and the children, then you're a dead beat dad. Nevermind that so many mothers will walk around with the single digit aged children all following along 5 to 10 feet behind them and never look back to make sure they're there. Or take them to a store and yell at the child to sit down and shut up because the child is "annoying me!" Or the mother that forces her children to do all the housework while watching soap operas all day. The list goes on.

My personal favorite are the women that talk shit non-stop about the divorced (or otherwise not married) father to her children. How he's a lazy fuck and an asshole, not even caring if the children hear all of this. Hell, not caring WHO hears it all. I know in my classes, I've heard more than one girl telling another that she's getting a divorce and from what they spit out while in ear shot, it's simple shit that can be worked out, or they REALLY try to justify it all by giving a massive list of things he's doing wrong. They never seem to get to the point on the list about their own faults, though.

Thanks for posting. This article nails the situation right on the head.

Not sure if many here remember the welfare reform debate of a decade ago. Being as ignorant as I was I didn't understand the ramifications one bit. But the main "idea" to combat public welfare was... drumroll please... marriage. That is men marrying and taking care of women who were completely incapable of earning a living. And, of course with marriage for these men would come great obligation, with the state as enforcement agent for their wives.
