Every time I see "MAN-ifesto" I want to kill someone. IS IT SO HARD TO FIND AN ORIGINAL PUN?

That said, I think it's both stupid and funny. On the surface, it's funny. Haha, cupcakes for men, advertised in what I hope is an intentionally self-mocking way. As a gimmick, it's probably fairly effective.

On the other hand, this kind of gender policing goes on all the time, both ways, no escaping it. The fact that there is food that is perceived as 'girly' or 'manly' is absolutely ridiculous to me.

I view this site as a joke on the topic, a self-referential fun-poke at the idea of masculinised or feminised food. It's not subtle, unlike the pervasive sexism going on in the rest of the world. I like the lack of subtlety. But I also have no doubt that there are some people whose reaction to this idea would make me hate it; people who buy into the idea of gendered foods rather than laughing at it.

I'm a man enough to eat a pink frosting cupcake and smile in sheer delight at its taste while other men see it. I'll look back at them, they'll see how good the cupcake is, and I win.

It's nothing but a gimmick. I've never met a boy or a man who would turn down frosted, sugary pastry because of color.

I am not drawn to rainbow sprinkled cupcakes. I am not aware of repressing anything. I like fruity drinks though. If I walked past this place, I would be intrigued, and would probably try their boozy chocolate.

I don't believe there's much sense of male victimization for not being able to openly enjoy cupcakes. Most boys never wanted to play with barbies either, except maybe to socialize with girls.

This is in Manhatten. NYC is a cutthroat place for restaurants/food services to survive. That's why there is hyper-innovation in food in NYC. That is why NYC is one of the best places for food on Earth. I don't think this has as much to do with gender, than it does with innovation.

As a woman, I find the whole idea of "butch" cupcakes pretty silly in a vaguely sexist way; like if you eat pink fondant or rainbow sprinkles, you're gonna have some kind of gender identity crisis?

okay, but as a man, I don't like pink everywhere. And I know I can step outside and drive less than five miles before finding three FOR !!! GIRLS!!!! ONLY!!!!!!!!! businesses, two of which are gyms, one of which is hyper-purple, which at some point became the EMPOWERED!!! PINK!!!

As for the cupcakes, I'd have to try them. In case Mr. Butch Bakery is listening, they can be the MR reddit's first official sponsor for a week, in exchange for a dozen assortment. They'd have to deliver south of the Mason-Dixon line, though, and it doesn't look like they're prepared to do that.

Does it equally bug you when something says "Girls night out" or promotes anything "girly" or "feminine"? Do makeup commercials bother you?

I don't see why this should bother you so much. It really isn't a big deal, and most definitely is not sexist in any way.
