She's getting "spousal support". How come when a poor African American woman gets public support we call it welfare and she's a "welfare queen", but when some rich, white moocher gets a boatload of ex-husband assistance we call it "spousal support"? As if she's somehow more respectable. What a joke.

I like how the title of this post was phrased - he's paying for his freedom. Exactly. Many don't realize that African slaves were able to buy their freedom as well. Van Der Beek is a modern-day peon. This shit was declared unconstitutional 100 years ago in America yet it still goes on.
