Harriet Harman is an utter nutcase for thinking that changing the gender ratio on boards will change the business environment. She has no clue what she is talking about and consequently pulls it out of her behind.

Hilarious, since this kind of pressure will just make the "old boy network" grow in different ways, since much of it nowadays is a roundabout to annoying female co-workers.

Can we get a male equality minister perhaps?

I dunno how it is in the UK, but last I checked, everyone who works at the gender equality part of our government here in Estonia is female. I'd like to see a bit more equality in their own ranks for starters.

What about threatening official action to get more women in trash-collecting or sewage management (lower levels, not the cushy boardroom levels)? Oh wait, those are okay to be male-dominated because they are icky. If Harriet had her way, there would be a minimum of 50% female in all high positions (nothing to stop females from overtaking males) while the lesser paying jobs are still male dominated. Women would boss men around from schools all the way until retirement, where they are left to their wives who have much more power in the family courts to get their way.

Let's not forget that despite the men getting shittier jobs, there should be a man-tax to keep everything "equal" without regard to overtime (men work more hours) or experience (women less likely to quit their jobs to raise families, etc).

I do love the way the Telegraph stick two fingers up at her my referring to her as Miss as opposed to Ms.

I'm not sure when the General Election is, but I don't think that bitch will be in power soon.

Also, the government really needs to stop encroaching on people's private lives and dictating to such a fine level of detail how companies operate. I really think that the British government exceed their purpose way to often in this way.
