I like the guy's work, he raises good points. But for someone who is trying to add some scientific validity to the conversation about these things, he is really bloody unscientific and regularly misses certain points.

For instance, 1 in 3 of the injuries perpetrated by men in his study resulted in injury. 1 in 5 of the injuries perpetrated by women did. The study doesn't mention severity. Do we infer from his study that men need shelters as well? or that women no longer need shelters? (Or, I hope he's simply saying, that we need more research to make sure people's needs are all being met and not excluding any one group out of ignorance.)

Shelters aren't going to be for the women and men who regularly have a few slaps. While I don't condone violence in relationships (and I don't stay in relationships that are violent), I do know that there are relationships in which the women are endangered. If there are relationships in which men are similarly endangered, then by all means: provide safe shelters for them!
