Feminism is a hate movement so they're understandably gun shy about allowing any critics to comment on their subs. As essentially a cult their membership is emotion based and don't do reason and argument well. They don't have a choice. They have to ban all critics. They're just being a little pro-active.

They didn't do it 2025 years ago and it cost them. As a result they all switched over to a policy of censorship, first secretly (because it contradicted their pretense to be on the left) and in recently years they've been pretty open about it.
