What do you all think about this?

I recently started talking to someone who’s in healthcare.

We have known each other for at least 5 years but we were always classmates and our contact was pretty minimal.

Anyways after my breakup, we got to talking again. We had long phone conversations. He lived 4 hours from me. But for a month, he didn’t contact me at all. He’s in med school. So I thought okay whatever. If someone doesn’t want to talk to me, I won’t push it. Even for friendship. Bear in mind, I wasn’t as interested in him and talking to multiple other guys.

This month, he texted me saying he actually really missed me and came to a realization that he has strong romantic feelings for me. I was not opposed to it so we go on a date which went well.

Following the date, he texted me saying he had a good time but afterwards for 2 days there was almost no contact other than sending me memes and a simple hi/hello?

I found it strange that a new relationship is usually exciting and going without contact for 2-3 days is unusual. His lack of enthusiasm was apparent.

I called him out on it and he said that he doesn’t like talking too much constantly and he doesn’t want to get distracted from work. Now I’m very reasonable and I’m not asking him to talk 24/7. But out of 24 hours, you can have even half an hour to chat on the phone. And then he’s like let’s do a “TEST RUN” and see if we maintain a relationship and whether we are compatible in terms of our communication. Apparently he wanted to talk once a week and that’s it. He says he gets addicted really quick so he was setting a boundary for himself. His career comes first.

Firstly, I am not about that test run life and utter lack of labels. It shows a lack of commitment and wishy washy thinking.

After some time, I decided to let him know I don’t want it because it just seems disrespectful to me. I want my guy to be enthusiastic about me. He didn’t seem to be - even though he initiated all of this. I didn’t even ask for it.

Honestly I don’t care if he’s a doctor. If he can’t treat me with the priority I deserve, then it’s good bye

I am new to FDS so I’m not sure if this was a good strategy. Anyways what do you all think of this situation?
