I was dating someone who knew I was too good for him and he’d definitely act like it. I got a huge opportunity to be a published author and I was in tears of joy telling him over the phone. He didn’t even acknowledge what I had said or ever bring it up again. I wish my poor 20 year old self knew that had nothing to do with me & everything to do with him!

I’ve seen a lot of situations where a (albeit well intentioned 😞, sweet woman) will rush to tell a man/woman in a relationship that they are being cheated on, only for the couple to work things out and direct their anger toward the messenger
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy07/04/22 02:45 PM
72

Don’t tell the husband, unless you are friends with him beyond casual acquaintances. It isn’t good for yourself to put yourself in that drama despite already being unfairly dragged into it. Block and cut her off, and if people want to know why tell them the truth (your friend cheated on her husband etc.) Taking the high road is hard but it preserves your energy and sometimes even with good intentions, getting involved in friendship drama / couple drama put you in a bad position

I feel your pain. I spent all of yesterday in tears broken down because I just feel so helpless trying to overcome my experiences with SA. I have days where I am so happy and lively and then I struggle to enjoy them because I know it’s only time before the next breakdown or god forbid, I get taken advantage of again. Everything you wrote resonated with me. The holidays are rough, especially because everyone puts their best show online and it’s supposed to be a time of joy. I hope you have a rela…

I don’t agree with the people saying they’re not happy. They might be, because if he is abusive there is no telling how long he will pretend to be a good guy. I have been through this many times, dated someone great who has turned out to be abusive and then they move on and treat the next woman like gold. But trust me the other shoe will drop and he will reveal his true colours. Trust in your experience and knowledge of who he really is
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy01/12/21 01:56 AM

Definitely this, just want to add though a man can treat his family like gold and still be abusive/terrible in my experience. Use it as part of vetting but don’t immediately think he’s HV just based on family treatment alone !

I’m with you here. I feel like I’ve wasted 15-22 focusing on obtaining a relationship and it has been a huge waste of time and energy. At least it has been an experience and I can reference it when I feel like going back on my standards lol. But I’m hoping to spend the rest of my 20s on myself, friends, hobbies, travel. I am never happier than when I am alone and focusing on these things

I went on a date wearing tall heels so I was around 5’9/10, and my date was about 5’5/6. He tried to convince me the whole night that he was taller than me.. even without heels I was a good 2 inches taller lol. He also said he was 6 foot on his profile. But women are the ones who lie, sure jan 😩

My friend dated a guy that pulled the “I got cheated on” card really early, like second date. He used it to guilt her for wanting commitment, and would move goal posts of when he would be ready to commit. She left and to get her back he changed it from 6 months to 2 months and unfortunately it worked. She finally got out, and next girl he dated he got into a committed relationship with immediately. She still defends that they had a “genuine” friendship and connection and it breaks my heart becau…

I was a in a local group not long ago and it was so WONDERFUL. It was full of great women and even some men where we’d share literature, dating advice, life tips etc. It grew quite big and became a really nice community where not everyone agreed with one another but the basis was to have respectful debate about topics (within reason). Eventually some men caught onto it and made troll accounts and would spend all their time posting the stupidest shit to rile everyone up, ruined every post with in…

Could you elaborate on “devaluation” if you have the time? This sounds like someone I dated. He lead with future faking and love bombing and it slowly moved toward being really critical of me. Sounds very familiar and I’d love to know more

Something I’ve learned is to ask don’t tell when talking about relationship expectations. For example, I went on a few dates and I told him, “I’m only looking for a serious relationship, nothing casual”. This allowed him to say “oh me too!” And subsequently lovebomb and future fake to me based on what I told him I wanted. If I had asked him what he was looking for first, I would have had a better/earlier chance of seeing his true colours as he would have admitted he wanted something casual, or s…

They are also shamed by other men for displaying emotion in “feminine” ways, a notion that was created BY men because of their misogyny. Instead of working toward abolishing misogyny and in turn, toxic masculinity, most men want to blame women instead

Why would he engage with sex with her in the first place if it made him uncomfortable that his family was home / could hear?

I studied criminology and when I first started, I was pretty shocked by crime statistics. I didn’t expect them to be 50/50 but there are some crimes were 80%+ of the perpetrators are men. I was reading about serial killers from the 70-90s era and the statistics were similarly disproportionate, way more men than women. After joining this sub it made a lot of sense as to why so many men feel entitled to commit violent crimes

I dated a guy who was very leftist & wore makeup sometimes, painted his nails and regularly spoke out about sexual violence against women. He ended up sexually assaulting me. Don’t give anyone the benefit of the doubt

God this reminds me of an article I read where men who “realised” they had assaulted women in the past talked about their guilt and the fact they didn’t know better and needed better sex education. It was beyond me how this got a positive response, there’s no way they didn’t know what they were doing was wrong. We learn social cues and communication skills from a very young age. I’m so sick of male violence being treated like an innocent mistake rather than an intentional crime, they will blame …

I really wish I knew this before. I went on a date a while ago and had around 7-8 drinks but I felt way drunker, and I had eaten / have a really high tolerance. I can have 15 + drinks and still remember what happened but I can barely remember what happened on this date and I was so ill the next day. The reason I suspect drugs is because he made a joke about rohypnol right before I went to his house 💔

I like to think of red flags like STOP signs when you’re driving. You’re supposed to stop and acknowledge it and think about your next move or the potential danger. In a relationship context this could mean evaluating whether this red flag is going to harm you in some way if you don’t stop to really think about it. Or you could just keep driving through it, but that could potentially cause an accident.

I have an acquaintance who has 3 kids with her boyfriend, but her one dream/goal in life is to get married. Which is fair enough, it’s her dream. Except she’s been with her boyfriend for 10 years, and he’s never proposed. Don’t convince yourself someone with incompatible wants is your soulmate, it’s not worth it. Breaks my heart every time I hear her talk about it

It’s posts like these that make me wonder how I would see the world without this subreddit. I very foolishly said yes to unprotected sex once (one time!) and my ex at the time ended up getting tested and turns out he had something. I was extremely fortunate that I didn’t get it, but the money it cost to go to the doctor, the emotional energy, the STRESS, the tears of the situation, would not be worth even the best sex in the world. I wonder if I hadn’t found this subreddit how many more times I …

He could have ideally sent you something along the lines of “Hey I know you can’t text at the moment, so no need to reply or take your time but I am hoping you feel better soon take care”. This way he is letting you know he cares whilst not putting the responsibility of a reply on you or crossing your boundary. Agree with the others saying he was shit testing or just ignorant

I actually had a mental breakdown at one point because of this when I was younger and I threw a plate of old food that he had left in the bathroom, around his room. It seemed only fair since it was his mess that I return it to his own room. Unsurprisingly, my parents were FURIOUS and I was in big trouble, because it’s not okay when I do it 🤡

I know this is confusing but sometimes people aren’t entirely awful or entirely good. Yes he helped you when you were sick and you love him, so he seems like a good person in your eyes, but seemingly good/average/adequate people can still be bad for us. I know it’s hard to leave because it’s easier to only remember the positives about your relationship, but his actions have clearly upset you and would be dealbreakers for most. There isn’t anything that men won’t try to get out of women for free. Plus I imagine they’d rather that than outsource and ask family/friends to show them around or use the internet, like a normal person. disgusting

I stopped getting/wearing false eyelashes for this reason! I love the way they make my eyes look and complete my eye makeup, and they allow my natural lashes to grow without interference from mascara etc. I stopped wearing them & looked down at women who did during the whole “take her swimming on the first date” era and began to associate wearing them with trying too hard, being high maintenance etc. Still unlearning the idea that caring about your appearance is high maintenance especially in re…

I think I really underplayed my feelings in this post, I was basically kicked out of my friend group over this situation and my friends stopped inviting me out and looked at me like I was a homewrecker for having a relationship with this man right before she did! I went on a date where he made a big deal about this. He claimed he would pick me up and pay for everything when we planned the date and then slowly backed out as the date got closer (car “broke down”, asked me to split). After we ate he continued to joke about splitting it because he knew it made me uncomfortable, and then paid for the whole $8 meal that we shared lol.. truly manipulative weirdo behaviour Edit - then he bragged about paying until I left.

I’ve always felt like men are jealous of the way women are so open emotionally (with friends and family) and how creative we get to be with things like fashion, makeup, self expression etc. These things are oppressed in men due to toxic masculinity, but instead of changing it within themselves and challenging society they just blame us because it’s easier to

I’m so glad this is being talked about. From 18-20 my friends and I experienced this kind of thing a lot and it is painful and dehumanising. I always thought it was “over emotional” and “dramatic” because I’d be upset that a guy would ghost me after a few months or after having sex. Please keep talking about this, I don’t want younger women to have to grow up like this, it’s fucked.

I saw an article about a boundary setting tactic where you basically just repeat the boundary to the other person. In your case when they bring up marriage you can say something like “I’m choosing to wait until I’m older” (just an example). When they push back you just keep repeating it. I feel your pain though, my parents call me a “man hater” and have accused me of being a lesbian because I gave up on constantly dating and worrying about marriage/kids. I choose to just ignore these comments an…

When I dated my ex a year ago, a few months in he began to lose the nice facade and begin the emotional abuse. Around this time I got very sick and it almost felt like a perpetual flu, every few weeks I’d get a sore throat, fatigue etc. and then I’d recover briefly and repeat. This went on for about 4 or 5 months and i nor my doctor could understand why I was getting so unwell. I woke up one day and blocked him and soon after found that I stopped getting ill and I haven’t had so much as a cold s…

This is a brilliant post. My last situationship would try to discredit every one of my opinions on feminism, racism etc. BUT I could never be mad because he would preface it with “I see what you mean but!”. Even if I had perfectly and articulately argued against his opinion (which was always devils advocate or the opposite of mine) the conversation wouldn’t be over until I agreed with his views. He was a regular defender of JP and JR, defended Incels and minimised their violence and misogyny and…

I’ve been pondering this the last week here and there, because it’s happened quite often in my dating journey and even in the last month or so. I have no idea what they gain from this, I guess it’s a way to get you invested in them without any effort on their part? It’s still so weird to me. The man in my story did admit he felt very nervous asking me out so it’s possible he just didn’t feel confident enough to do so. I try to remember that as you said when someone’s wasting your time, their was…

To follow up, why are men so pressed about women’s hygiene? It’s so disgusting and weird and clearly for profit / to shame us as historically women have had harsh beauty standards imposed on us (and still do). They need to put this energy into more products for men, such as good skincare, body wash, moisturiser etc. Stay out of women’s business.

I am also very angry at past Lvm and the negative impacts they had on my life. I like to use the anger to write and fuel my activism toward women. I am also going to go to therapy to manage it. I also take myself on nice dates to restaurants / shopping to remind myself of my worth but I think it just takes time to heal. my messages are always open ❤️

Also important to note that your brain isn’t fully formed until 25 years old. This affects decision making and maturity which can be a bad dynamic in something like a romantic relationship involving an older man. I dated 24/25 year olds when I was newly 18-20 and one in particular would bring up the fact he knew I was much younger and ‘my brain wasn’t fully formed’ as a way to control and manipulate me. Not saying 18-24 year olds aren’t mature or capable of making good decisions but you’re more …

My friends have noticed a pattern with height, if they’re shorter than 6’0” they will usually claim to be 6 foot exactly or 5’11. The reason being that these heights are still quite tall and they can still get you for a date, but you aren’t going to realise from their photos that they’re lying which you might if they said they were 6’2+. I’ve been on 3 dates now where they’ve said they are 6 foot or 5’11, and they’ve barely been slightly shorter than me (5’7).

A lot of people (men particularly) still think consent is as simple as yes = consent and no = no consent. What they fail to do is look at the circumstances around consent in sexual settings and look for things like coercion, past trauma, intimidation etc.

Preach! When I was younger especially I used to fall for those “inspirational” quotes or memes that placed immense importance on communication and being good at communicating. While it is important to know how to do so, communication with someone who is committed to misunderstanding you or taking advantage of you, is absolutely useless and you’re better off preserving your energy and moving on.

The slow fade is essentially emotional manipulation so while we can protect ourselves as best we can, but let’s not place the blame on people that don’t know any better or make a mistake because it happens. I think the younger generation have it really tough as well, most have been fed lib-fem nonsense through social media since they were really young.

This is less for women that have been on FDS for a while and more for lurkers or younger women that are still unlearning being a pick me. It’s easier than you think to fall into the trap of putting all your eggs in one basket particularly if you have been told by society that your one goal and purpose is to have a relationship. I know I used to be willing to put up with nonsense just so I could say I had a boyfriend. I agree with you though!

I think you’re right unfortunately. What I want people to take from this more than anything is that if this happens it is not your fault & your feelings are valid. When it happened to me I was quick to label myself as silly or crazy for being so upset over a ‘situationship’ even though they were clearly intentionally using me. I hope they stop this shit in the future

It was similar for me. We met on a dating app and once we met up in person it was constant messaging and compliments. The second I’d leave his side we’d be messaging & he was always talking about how much he liked me, how beautiful he thought I was etc. One day there was no good morning text and my anxiety went crazy. Then I only heard from him once in a very vague snapchat and I felt physically ill. Then he disappeared entirely. Overall just a very hurtful experience that could’ve been avoided …

FDS is a massive threat to the patriarchy because we take away the power from men in one of the most important societal areas that they dominate which is marriage and dating. People aren’t going to accept FDS as long as we live in a patriarchal society and Liberal feminism is going to be seen as the only acceptable form of feminism because it is palatable & watered down to secretly benefit men. People are going to stay mad but we have to just keep doing what we’re doing, for the benefit of our o…

I think it might come down to women being socialised to base their self worth on having a man / keeping a man so when we are rejected or “fail” at this, it feels like we are fundamentally flawed. Whereas men are socialised to sow their rolled oats as they please so rejection is seen as a bump in the road because they know their will be more to come in the future. I struggle with this so much so I’m glad you brought it up!

Precisely. This guy used me for so much emotional support that I now need therapy. He projected his issues onto me and it went as far as him confiding in me about suicide plans and of course I was “the only one he told”. But when I wanted reassurance or emotional support I was shut down. So despicable.

Yes!!! I had a FWB who specifically referred to me as his FWB, but he threw a fit when I referred to him as a friend or what we had as a friendship. I would like to add that I think a big part of the imbalance in FWB relationships is women are socialised to want a relationship. This reminds me of the book ‘the girl on the train’. For those who haven’t read it the narrator of the story for most of the book reminisces on her violent and abusive behaviour due to alcoholism. Toward the end of the book it is revealed that her ex husband was abusing and gaslighting her and she was the victim all along. People will always jump to conclusions especially to villainise women. My heart hurt so badly for her after the incident. How traumatic AND she had to walk out of the car, after being shot in the feet, over to the police to explain what happened. I really hope she only has good people around now & has healed. I hope Tory burns in hell for what he did.

He did shoot her, I read that it was because she rejected him (may need to be confirmed) and he shot her in the feet which is extremely malicious when you consider that Megan is a dancer/performer. No one should be supporting Tory.

What ageist moron wrote this article, why would they not have had a woman write an article about a woman’s space / women’s issues? Probably because she wouldn’t have reduced an entire 100’000 person community to being old and ugly... Christ.

I know it’s not on the same level, but recently it hit me that mother is a massive pick me. I realised I can either cut her off and leave, or set a boundary and accept her for who she is. I chose the latter because luckily she is a wonderful person outside of her terrible dating advice but I could relate to your struggle as I sometimes am the one helping her solve her problems. Hope you take care ❤️❤️

I don’t have much advice, but I just wanted to say I’m sorry you had to grow up and experience that. You sound like a profound person to have overcome that to complete University and forgive your mother. I do agree with the people saying to cut her off, perhaps you could set a boundary by moving out and living elsewhere. It might be possible to still have a relationship with her then without being her parent. You sound very strong and I hope you find happiness ❤️

It’s a way for men to shame other men that potentially treat women well so that the bar isn’t raised all round, so women continue to be starved and therefore more likely to accept crumbs of respect. They couldn’t anticipate that we don’t need them lol

I hate that word so fucking much. I dated someone for a while who would treat me like shit and then say it was because he didn’t want to be a simp anymore. It’s pathetic.

A lot of them just don’t care. Bless the ones who do communicate though.

Right! You’re telling me you watch porn 7 days a week and don’t have any clue what to do? I’m not buying it

I’ve seen so many posts that blame women for faking, and blame them for not “teaching” their boyfriend/partner and claim they’re robbing the next girl because the guy is too entitled to use google or learn anything for himself. Yet every woman I know has been constantly told what they should being doing to please men (I.e accept choking or hair pulling). What crack are some people on, truly

Those comments are atrocious. I fell for that way of thinking for SO many years. I thought that men’s behaviour should be excused always, and women should take the blame for them. It’s so so harmful.

I’ve been in a super similar situation where I was on a date and we had sort of eluded to sleeping together after but I changed my mind and told him to drop me home. When driving me home he deliberately missed the turn off to my house and pulled into a dark driveway at a beach and asked to kiss. He then said we should have sex in the car which I refused. I eventually agreed to go back to his house and have sex. It’s very confusing and because I did consent I was very confused for a long time abo…

I went on a date where the payment for dinner was a huge contention. He messaged me the day before in a sweat over who was going to pay even though he had asked me to dinner. My best friend joked and said “you’re basically taking yourself out to dinner if you pay, except you have to share it with some loser😹”. We go on the date and again he makes a huge deal about splitting the payment. This was pre FDS so I agreed to split it. I have him my cash and went to the bathroom and when I returned he h…

My brother had a spout with drugs as well. Surprisingly they held him very accountable and he is clean now for some time. Funny how when it’s drugs it’s a huge deal because it affects him and them, but when I bring up concerns about our living space no one cares because it only affects me and they don’t want to push him.

I appreciate this. I am looking at moving out at the moment but I’m afraid to do so because of money. I will definitely start taking photos so when I do move out I can’t be blamed for “overreacting”. Thank you so much for your kind comment

So glad this has been brought up here. I see maybe 3 or 4 posts per day online about false rape accusations, usually posted by men. How many posts do I see from men supporting female rape victims and advocating for them? Absolutely none.

Women are disproportionately pressured into spending a lot of time and money on appearance though?

Wow you sound like an absolute legend and I love to hear it!!! It was the same in my experience. He would constantly compliment my beauty but it would always be followed up with “why do you like me then” and “you’re so beautiful why do you choose me” and “why don’t you have a boyfriend yet”. I follow r/ seduction and it’s honestly the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.

Wow! Honestly same here, he would only talk about past exes / fwb’s. Such weirdo behaviour and I regret all the time I spend listening. Definitely to get a reaction. I don’t think men like that can get female attention without manipulation. Glad you got rid of him!

I’d like to add that my mental health was so fried that I was walking around constantly triggered. I was so anxious I would cry and i would have to listen to podcasts at night to calm myself down. I wasn’t living. Please put yourself first and move far far away from these horrible men
