Hi everyone,
I was assaulted by someone I was dating which I posted about a few weeks ago. I’m incredibly grateful for the advice and love I received here. I also reached out to some local SA resource centres who confirmed my experience and feelings, and I blocked the perpetrator everywhere to focus on healing. Their advice was that if I chose to report the incident to police, it would be hard to prove my story beyond a reasonable doubt as I had no evidence aside from my word.
Turns out I didn’t block his phone number and a few days ago he messaged me simply asking why I blocked him on socials. I’m incredibly angry but I thought a discussion with him could possibly led to a confession, over text, that I could then use as evidence and report him.
He isn’t very bright and I know he doesn’t realise the severity of what he has done, he was also quite emotionally abusive and I was very submissive the whole relationship so I don’t think he will expect me to take a stand / legal action. I wouldn’t be forcing him to say anything but I want him to admit what he did, and I think it’s likely he thinks I’m nice enough that if he confesses and apologies, I will simply forgive him.
I was thinking of casually mentioning or asking him if he knew what he had done, since he is playing dumb like he isn’t aware of why I blocked him. I might be wrong and he may not admit to it over text but he did apologise in person after it happened so I know that he knows what he did.
Any advice is much appreciated. This might just be my anger and the best scenario might be for me to block him and continue healing, but I won’t lie the idea of him facing legal/financial/social repercussions for such a selfish act, feels like proper justice. I don’t want him to do this to anyone else.
Thank you ❤️
