Please change the link to np.reddit.com for non-participation mode.

Also, this does not take away that it's a toxic sub.

I'm always suspicious of advocates that focus on soft issues. Like men being allowed to cry, show feminine emotions or express themselves in feminine ways.

But people who raise them often seem to imply that male behaviors and attitudes are toxic. Like men's preference for competition, boisterous behavior and stoicism. When really the message should be, every man is unique and should be able to express themselves however they like as long as it doesn't harm anyone else.

What's more, even that latter message is a bit of a diversion tactic. Men's issues in western society are usually much more severe than women's issues. Where women are made uncomfortable, men die. Men are outright discriminated against in laws and institutions. And they are at risk of losing presumption of innocence. In short, men suffer from severe institutional and systemic discrimination, so you really have to be suspicious of those who would focus primarily on low impact social and interpersonal discrimination.

And this "small penis jokes" thing is exactly that. A very low impact social thing, that's not even really discrimination. There are plenty of "flat chest" jokes going around as well.

There have been cross posts of legitimately good posts on /r/menslib of people who have found ways to skirt that subreddit's draconian moderation rules while still raising awareness of actually important men's rights issues.

But this post is the opposite of that. It is completely in line with /r/menslib controlled opposition tactic of diverting attention from critical men's rights to nearly meaningless ones.

And even among those, this one in particular is especially bad. Having a small penis, is a legitimate set back for a man, the same as having a flat chest is a set back for a woman. It is going to be difficult on your self esteem. And for men, there is very little recourse. For women there more options, but they do have their down sides.

As a result, it is a topic that is anxiety inducing, so considerate people tend to avoid it. That is the norm in society: you avoid this topic in order to prevent unnecessary anxiety. In other words, it is taboo. And what does every comic know about things that are taboo? They are comedy gold mines. People making small penis jokes is the natural consequence of society being generally considerate about it.

So, no, let's not make it not funny. Let's continue to be considerate of both people who have small penises and people who like to make jokes.

And then the article itself has nothing to do with jokes, but is just an anxiety inducing interview with a guy with a micropenis who stereotypically compensates with oral sex.

If we were to talk about penis size (and we have much more important things to talk about). The talk should be centered around how men with such issues can remain confident.

I find that a general theme is that most women care a whole lot less than people think, though many women still do care.

And I'd like to add, no one is anyone else's perfect partner. There's going to be things that your partner doesn't like about you but they'll love you anyway. And quite possibly, that thing that you're insecure about isn't even at the top of their list.

And there should be no "compensate". You should always try to be the best you can be for your partner, within reason. And they should do the same for you. And if they act like this or that flaw of yours makes you not good enough, then that's abusive and you need to get yourself another relationship.

And finally, for any issues like this, I do think men should be able to find spaces where they can talk about it without much stigma so they can discuss possible solutions, limited as they are. But again, it's not a major men's right issue. There is no institutional or systemic discrimination against men around this topic.

So, basically, I think everything about that post is bad. Even for a men's lib post.

You're probably new if you didn't notice menslib is just a feminism masked parrot presenting you new reasons to blame yourself or men.

Seperate from that, imagine thinking all men live the lives of the top %1 or 0.1%. Even being born intellectually gifted is a %2-%5 chance. Yeah making every single guy feel responsible and to call them privileged for thinking they all live the life only 0.1%-1% of lucky+hard working people achieve sounds right up in their alley of twisting and reframing everything

I posted something similar on unpopularopinion (and reposted on mensrights) before:

The comment-section is disgusting
