What follows is some remarks on the feminist aspects of "Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violence against women and domestic violence". I'm no legal expert. Feel free to add other problems.

According to non-feminist studies, domestic violence is

  1. relatively rare,
  2. perpetrated more often by women than men, and,
  3. if it's used control, it's women who do it, they, after all, are much more powerful in homes.

As we all know Feminists, on the other hand, claim that domestic violence is

  1. common,
  2. mostly or almost entirely perpetrated by men, and
  3. is used to control women in homes (and the society in general).

The Istanbul treaty follows Feminist dogma - and smuggles it into your legislation:

  1. Recognising, with grave concern, that women and girls are often exposed to serious forms of violence
  2. Recognising that women and girls are exposed to a higher risk of gender-based violence than men ... domestic violence affects women disproportionately
  3. Recognising that violence against women is a manifestation of historically unequal power relations between women and men, which have led to domination over, and discrimination against, women by men and to the prevention of the full advancement of women ... the structural nature of violence against women as gender-based violence, and that violence against women is one of the crucial social mechanisms by which women are forced into a subordinate position compared with men.

With these misleading premises, almost anything is justified: not only stopping all violence against women but also "the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women" and "design a comprehensive framework, policies and measures for the protection of and assistance to all victims of violence against women and domestic violence", and "special measures that are necessary to prevent and protect women from gender-based violence shall not be considered discrimination" to mention a couple.

Then the treaty goes on by telling that governments have to establish official bodies and networks including among other things non-governmental organizations that should be given support. Boys and men, in particular, should be encouraged to contribute in this Feminist fight. Women should be empowered. Cultural values and norms should be changed so that they better fit the Feminist view of what equality means.

You can read in the treaty about the specific action that should be taken in awareness-raising, education, training of professionals and others. One of the more alarming ideas is how the private sector and media should "set guidelines and self-regulatory standards to prevent violence against women and to enhance respect for their dignity". I mean, what does it mean that women's dignity should be respected in the media but not men's?

All this looks very much like a well organized feminist strategy to get their general dogmas into the legislation, not only those that have to do with violence. Perhaps the most alarming thing is that they got away with it.

Feminists are alarmingly powerful.
