If you look at SAT scores men still perform better than women overall, and in most individual categories.

The fact that men receive lower grade despite performing as well, or better than women, is a reflection of the widespread biases and discrimination against men in education.

All tests are not created with an equal cross-section of material. It's very easy to change average results, and this is done with IQ tests for example by giving greater or lesser weighting to different sections of the tests.

That's exams, but in some countries results are based on coursework + exam results. This is dangerous since non-optimal behavior/attitude and/or focus can be conflated with ability and there are many opportunities for teachers to affect results, unconsciously or otherwise, over the course of a term.
