This is a debate from 1979 between Betty Friedan, who doesn't need an introduction, and Herb Goldberg, who is a bit weird but at least voices some MRM views.

One thing I notice is that debate, although it's 40 years old, doesn't seem to differ much from the ones that go nowadays.

Goldberg talks about how women are overtaking men in business, and he hopes that they will start taking equal responsibilities. He sees women being more and more successful and hopes that women will no longer look at men as success objects. He applauds feminists liberating women from their roles, but he hopes that feminists will not be playing passive victims anymore. He hopes that men will be allowed to be liberated from their roles as well, and that feminists will allow them to.

Goldberg dies just a few months ago, so it's to late to ask him whether he believes that what he hoped for has come true, but I am sure that, if he were honest, he would be disappointed. Men are still success objects, they are still blamed for everything, and no male liberation has come about, feminists didn't allow it to happen.

So, what this debate shows is that absolutely nothing has changed in 40 years, in almost 2 generations since 1979. If anything changed, it was for the worse. One can expect that these exact same debates will still be going 40 years from now.
