One side of the coin is that men are more likely to be sentenced when they're the alleged perpetrator. But there is another side: men are also discriminated against when they are the victim. Mock juror trials have shown that men suffer for more victim blaming when they are victims of rape or domestic violence, and they are less likely to win the trial than when the victim is female. In part because of this, men are much less likely to report domestic violence to the police. But the one thing that strikes me the most is that, when a driver accidentally kills a woman, they receive a much heavier sentence than when they kill a man. As often, the gender disparity is similar to the racial disparity: drivers also get heavier sentences when they kill a white person than a black person. I think this demonstrates pretty well that some people's lives are more valuables than others in our society.

I know that there's this thing where mental health comes into effect, where men go to jail and women get treatment. It's so bad that until recently the psychology industry thought borderline personality disorder affected women 75% oh the time, when it's really a equal split but men were never counted since they ended up in jail instead.

There's an argument to be made that discrimination against men represents a form of institutionalized slavery. Both in the classical sense of forced labor in prisons, and in the sense of men becoming "wage slaves" either through traditional gender norms or court ordered payments to mothers and ex-wives.

This argument gets brought up on racial lines a lot, and there are historical reasons to believe this is the case.

But like a lot of issues that effect minorities, it really only effects minority men (or at least does so disproportionately).

People have a lot more sympathy for women when they're convincted of a crime or put in jail. Often it's assumed that a woman has good reasons to commit the crime. Sometimes it's even argued that the evil patriarchy makes women commit crimes. As a result, women's prisons are a lot nicer than men's, and women convincts get treated a lot better. Including being given more leniency and privileges inside of prison.

Men are more likly to be arrested, in fact being a male is a bigger indicator of being arrested then being black is.

There are more laws controlling male behavior then female behavior.
