One term that often pops up in discussion so far in this subreddit is the term "tradcon". But how relevant is this term really, especially outside of USA? If tradcon means an actual (Christian usually) traditionalist conservative, who loves 1950s and pretty housewives, and occasionally hates gays, how common are these people outside of USA?

IMO, a true tradcon outside of USA is pretty rare. Typical conservatives in Europe cannot be called tradcons, if tradcon is to be taken to mean actual traditionalist conservative.

Is Angela Merkel or Nicolas Sarkozy or Theresa May a tradcon? Or even Maggie Thatcher?

Are conservative politicians in Scandinavia "tradcons"? Are opinions in a paper such as London Times "tradcon" opinions?

There are actual tradcons in Europe, but they very rare and unworthy of discussion. Large majority of conservatives in Europe are just liberals with more emphasis on free market and capitalism, "Western values", law and order, national greatness, foreign interventions in distant lands, and trust in business elite. For example, in UK, Roger Scruton and Peter Hitchens can be called tradcons, but not Douglas Murray and Niall Ferguson.

Even far-right politician such as Geert Wilders in Netherlands is not a tradcon, but is rather just a liberal who hates Muslims. Just like Pim Fortuyn before him.

I am not saying that these people are any better for not being tradcons. These people don't offer men anything. It's just that they should be discussed and debunked differently.
