I suspected something was up with the gf so I snooped her phone. I generally go by "trust but verify", so yesterday I had the opportunity and decided it was time to verify.

There were no immediate causes for concern, but I saw that she told her best friend that she needs to get rid of me - because I'm selfish. I've got a pretty good idea what this means within the context of her and my interaction (and have heard her joke that she can't afford to date me), but I'm not sure what to do. I'm not going to open my wallet and give her unrestricted access.

Now, I understand that this statement was a snapshot of how she felt at the time, but how does one generate the right feelz in this case? I still give her tingles and I hold the power in the relationship so I don't think things are irreparable. Beyond dread, what can/should I do?

tl;dr Possible impending breakup because I'm selfish. Would like opinions on how to proceed.
