Crosspost "How do you stand your ground but be a team player at the same time when a man is trying to take over control?" from /r/Feminism:

I'm currently working in a project with mostly, new faces for a creative work. Basically, it has been split into two sides as the team is about 12 people. I was nominated to be co-project manager with another male.

However, I already feel like he is taking the reigns even though I do not consider him to be more qualified. He told me that he would be "happy to take care of the higher-level management" + that I didn't need to attend a meeting where I later found most of the full team to have attended. I feel like I'm not being told all information but also don't know what to ask given I don't know what I don't know.

I am also certain that he has said my points during this meeting I was not a part of and do not know if I was credited.

Not only am I worried that this is starting to reflect poorly on myself, but may lower the chances of me staying on this project after this first phase. I feel like I am being pushed around and haven't gotten enough information on how to take control.

Any advice? How do you stand your ground?
