Crosspost "My [23 M] with my Boyfriend [25 M] of a year and a half, wants me to pay rent on a house that he's mortgaged with tenants" from /r/relationships:

My partner and I were together for about 8 months by the time he purchased his house. He kept insisting that I move in with him and that it would be "our" house. I've done something like this before and I know it will never be "our" house, it will always be his. After some time, I gave in and moved in with him.

The house is a 3 bedroom house and he rents out the other two bedrooms. The total expense of their combined rent covered the monthly mortgage payment and then some. After I had lived with him for some time, he was pressuring that I should pay rent to live there. We got into it then because he invited me to live with him and there is no rent to pay, the roommates pay for everything. Anything I would pay for rent would be going straight into my bf's pocket and I don't like the dynamic of my bf being my landlord. So we struck a deal. The deal was that I wouldn't pay rent if I did house renovations for him sometimes.

Now our situation is awful because my boyfriend is always asking me to work on the house even after we both work 40 hour weeks. I will handle projects about once a week, especially since we're coming up on Spring, but I feel like he is really exploiting this. My boyfriend says that I either need to work on the house or start paying rent or move out. How do I handle this situation? How do I even address this?

tl;dr: BF invited me to move into a house and pay rent when the tenants already pay the mortgage and then some. I don't pay rent but do renovations instead. Now bf is saying I need to do more work on the house, pay rent, or move out. How do I address this? What do I do?
