Please don't try to make fun of/trivialize rape. I honestly don't care if I get banned from this sub or downvoted or whatever, but doing this is wrong. Rape is a problem, it's traumatizing, and the worst part is having to deal with people who accuse you of lying. Please please please please stop. Please.

Okay, so yes. Rape is fucking horrible and traumatic, and shouldnt be happening and all that. I completely agree with you on that, and I think most sane people do as well.
SAYING THAT, why are feminists wanting to claim EVERYTHING as rape? You walk down the street in a weird way? Rape! You speak to an attractive woman once? Rape. You look at a woman? Rape! Theres "Fart Rape" and "Thought Rape" cropping up every now and then. You say "Dont trivialize rape" and yet this is what feminists are doing. Lowering the standard of definition for rape and sexual assault.
Second, when you say "the worst part is being accused of lying", are you talking about having to give evidence at a trial? Because thats how justice works. Thats how the entire legal system works. You make a claim, you then give evidence to back it up. The justice system is FOUNDED on Innocent Until Proven Guilty, and you as the accuser have to prove someone guilty.
Finally, if Rape is so bad and traumatic and shouldn't be trivialized, why are so many scumbags (who dont deserve to be called women) lying about it to the police and courts system? Someone was in jail because a woman fucking DREAMED she was raped by him. Another guy was in prison because the woman cheated on her bf and didnt want to admit it. Women all over the shot are waking up from a ONS with regrets, and calling it rape. THAT is trivializing rape!

There are the minority of feminists who are terrible misandrists that misrepresent the majority of feminists who seek to help both women and men. These real feminists do not claim everything as rape.
No, I'm not talking about giving evidence. I'm talking about women who come forward being constantly harassed by many people who say they lied about the assault for attention or money.
Of course, there are false accusations, but they are far outweighed by the real cases. Over the past few decades, about 3% of total cases were found to be false. And in court, it's very hard to arrest someone for sexual assault, the reason why 91% of the defendants are able to walk away without punishment.
As for the last examples you gave, is there a chance that you would have a source for those?
[–]LondonDude123 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Massive No True Scotsman argument, and one that is continuously made by the Feminist movement. I would highly recommend looking up Karen Straughan's response to the "They arent real feminists" claim. I would copy and paste it here, but it would be another 1,000 words onto an already long comment.
This is what happens when Feminists trivialize rape, and when the law allows for false allegations to be made. When you start to call everything "Rape", people wont believe you. Its a hyper-horrible example of the boy who cried wolf.
Secondly, the other reason is down to the sheer "coincidence" of Rape allegations coming out just as a high-profile person hits their peak. I've never been raped, so I dont know what its like to have to work through the trauma, but its hard to deny how strange it is that Rape accusations are thrown out just as a guy comes into money, or begins to become successful.
about 3% of total cases were found to be false. the reason why 91% of the defendants are able to walk away without punishment.
about 3% of total cases were found to be false.
the reason why 91% of the defendants are able to walk away without punishment.
Correct, but incorrect at the same time, and not for why you might thinks. Numbers from difference countries range from between 2% to 10% of rape allegations being "False", however that would be 2-10% of cases which go to court! Its INCREDIBLY easy for a woman to straight up say "He raped me", have the man face all the social repercussions of a claim like that, and yet the police are never called for "some reason". If you want an example of this: A few years ago there was a divorce lawyer who admitted to telling clients to claim Assault or Rape. Thats a false case, but would never have to be proven in a court of law.
Your 2nd sentence is one that I find absolutely disgusting, because it comes across as you having the mindset of "All men are rapists". Did it ever occur to you that some walk away without punishment because they didnt do it? Yes, it IS very hard to convict someone for Rape and SA. You CANNOT convict somebody on a he-said-she-said, which is WHY Women need to start taking Rape more seriously. The absolute ease of which Feminist Laws allow Women to throw out Rape allegations with little-to-no substance behind them is staggering. THAT is what de-values Rape as a crime.
Of Course. Heres the Rape Dream One.
- Clarence Moses-EL was convicted in 1988 and sentenced to 48 years in prison for raping and assaulting a woman when she returned home from a night of drinking
- When police initially asked who attacked her, she named the man who later confessed
- More than a day after the assault, while in the hospital, the woman identified Moses-EL as her attacker, saying his face came to her in a dream
- Moses-EL has long claimed he was innocent
- But his efforts to appeal his conviction were unsuccessful, in part because Denver police threw away DNA evidence from the attack
- His break came in December 2013 when another man, L.C. Jackson, sent him a letter in prison
- The letter said he couldn't believe Moses-EL was accused of raping the woman because he 'had sex' with her at the same time that night'
I have FOUR different stories of False Rape Claims being proven False, as the woman was cheating. One Two Three Four
This SHOULD prove what im saying about the ease of making false claims.

One thing I'd like to say right away, never in my comment did I even imply that all men are rapists. I don't know where you got that from.
As for the sources, it seems that the woman was intoxicated when raped, and was unaware who the culprit was, but vividly remembers the (innocent) man's face, and thinks he's the rapist. That case isn't her purposely blaming another man for rape/SA, it's just a sign of a shitty judicial system (not sure how it works in UK). The second link you gave me is a complete false accusation, cool. That woman sucks, and she's probably not a feminist (just for the record).
If 2-10% of cases are false, and 91% of defendants walk free, I don't think most of them are innocent, because the numbers say otherwise.
Feminism doesn't encourage women to use the word rape lightly and trivialize it and make false allegations. I don't know what you think feminism is, but it's definitely not that. Feminists (not including the 3rd wave, 3rd wave feminists are not considered apart of the movement) are trying to raise awareness of rape and keep rapists and assaulters behind bars without having to traumatize the victim by forcing them to relive their trauma and be interrogated, harassed and shamed.
What de-values rape as a crime is posts like this, which is quite literally trivializing rape whether you'd like to believe it or not.
[–]LondonDude123 1 point2 points3 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You said "it's very hard to arrest someone for sexual assault, the reason why 91% of the defendants are able to walk away without punishment". Punishment implies that they've done something to be punished. You might well have not meant it, thats why I said implied.
That case isn't her purposely blaming another man for rape/SA, it's just a sign of a shitty judicial system
I mean, when you tell the police "This is the guy who raped me", thats blaming him for rape. Yes there can also be a shitty judicial system on top, but she still blamed somebody who didnt do it.
The second link you gave me is a complete false accusation, cool. That woman sucks, and she's probably not a feminist (just for the record).
She may or may not be. This does link in with what i'll say later in the comment.
Yeah we actually agree here. There will be innocent people walking away, there will be guilty people walking away. However thats the price we pay for having a fair justice system. "Its better to have 100 Guilty Men walk free than 1 Innocent Man suffer".
Feminism doesn't encourage women to use the word rape lightly and trivialize it and make false allegations. I don't know what you think feminism is, but it's definitely not that.
This might've just been my phrasing of it, as "encourage" is definitely the wrong word, but Feminist Laws make it INCREDIBLY easy to make a false accusation, AND benefit from it, with ZERO down-side if its proven false. Did you know that in the UK you're entitled to £11,000 from the CPS if you're raped, and all you need is a Crime Reference Number (which is given to you when you report it, not when someone is found guilty). Just think about that for a second. £11k in free money to claim you were raped. That doesnt scratch the surface on how many men are accused of rape in divorce courts around the world. How many men are accused of Rape by jilted ex-partners. Accused of rape by women to protect her social status. Accused of rape to protect Her infidelity. Accused of Rape after she regrets a one night stand.
When the literal law is that, its very hard to turn round and say "We dont trivialize rape".
Feminists (not including the 3rd wave, 3rd wave feminists are not considered apart of the movement) are trying to raise awareness of rape and keep rapists and assaulters behind bars without having to traumatize the victim by forcing them to relive their trauma and be interrogated, harassed and shamed.
First off, another No True Scotsman argument.
Second, the last thing I saw was Feminists saying (and successfully changing the law to make this happen) is women who make accusations DONT have to give evidence or testify at a trial. This MURDERS any case of a "fair trial", and flys directly in the face of "Innocent Until Proven Guilty", because you're not allowing the defence to cross-examine.
The one before that was "A woman's previous false-rape-claims CANT be brought up in court". Thats a strange one isnt it? Why oh why (given what I've said earlier about how easy it all is) would Feminists NOT want the girl who cried wolf exposed in a criminal trial? Hmm. Sorry to get all sarcastic in that last sentence, but it should be pretty obvious why this is a terrible thing, and you cant possibly defend it.
I do find it very funny that you have a problem with a post that mocks what women are actually doing, and no problem with the fact that women are doing it.

91% of the defendants are able to walk away without punishment.
How do you know they weren't falsely accused either? Are you god? Are you able to see every single individual case and know exactly what happened and who's at fault? No. Stop using this mysterious 91% to push your narrative. They are inconclusive. It's a flip of the coin.
[–]Anonymous44_44 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
It's really not, I highly doubt that 91% of the rape cases are false. Especially since there has been overwhelming evidence against the rapist, yet they walk free due to money, social power and a corrupt judicial system.
https://www.rainn.org/statistics/criminal-justice-system
Here's a source if you disagree with me.
Also, it's not like rape is the only crime with false accusations. People lie about theft, murder, non-sexual assault, and tons of other things. So why are so many people stuck on the fact that women lie about rape? Why are you not supporting memes about how 90% of victims of other crimes are lying and exaggerating?
[–]reddut_gang 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I never said they were false. All I said is that they are unknown. Inconclusive. They could have been real and they could have been fake.
So why are so many people stuck on the fact that women lie about rape?
Because even if he isn't arrested for the false accusation, it ruins his life, unless he is rich. Feminists also push for all women to be believed, even if they are lying, and this is anti-feminist subreddit. Plus, are people not allowed to choose things to focus on?
Why are you not supporting memes about how 90% of victims of other crimes are lying and exaggerating?
How do you know what I'm supporting and not supporting? Are you a mind-reader?
So if someone's accused of murder/theft their life isn't ruined?
It's quite obvious that you don't support those kinds of memes, mainly because of the fact that they simply do not exist. People don't usually ridicule victims of any crime, but for some reason rape seems to be an exception.
[–]reddut_gang 0 points1 point2 points 4 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
false theft accusation doesn't hold the same stigma that false rape accusations do. It is also infinitely more difficult to falsely accuse someone of murder than to falsely accuse someone of rape. It's just the nature of the respective crimes. You know very well how ambiguous rape cases are. Very hard to prove. Our technology hasn't advanced enough to have effective, precise, and accurate investigations of rape the same way it has for murder. Rape is one of the very few crimes where you can be the victim of it and end up being in jail because you were falsely accused (or, if you are a male in certain countries, jailed because you getting raped by a woman isn't compatible with your legal system). Not sure if you'd get imprisoned for being murdered.
People don't usually ridicule victims of any crime
Oh yes they do. Violent assault victims get ridiculed all the time. Male domestic violence victims get ridiculed as well when the perpetrator is a woman.

Stop acting like a bedwetter.
The act of raping is all of those terrible things. The word rape is no worse than the word banana. It's a completely neutral signifier.
You have no right whatsoever to tell anybody what to treat with triviality or seriousness.

Regardless of your political persuasion you have no right to dictate to other sentient adults what to speak of in a trivial way. That's a violation of the moral norm of free speech.

Lol, me posting a comment asking someone to stop is totally violating the moral norm of free speech. I'm also not politically persuaded.
