I've worked for a large bank for 9 years and have had many positions here but right now I feel like I'm in a role a monkey could do. I do my work in the first few hours and usually read my kindle for the rest of the day (currently reading Models), or I just walk around. I've asked peers and managers and the advice is usually along the lines of "do more today and one day you'll be paid for it". This smells like BS but at the same time I understand you need to show what you're capable of to move up. I don't have a lot of professional skills aside from some minor Excel stuff so jumping to a different department or another company to start over also seems unproductive. I know I have many options for work and know I can always find a job. I'm looking for advice, if you've been in this situation, what did you do? What would you do?
