I'm going on a first date! A man approached me at a coffee shop I frequent, we had a pleasant little chat, and he asked me out for dinner. Of course, there's nothing certain to say after one chat, but he seems very well-groomed, well-dressed, suggested a good restaurant, and came across as intelligent and funny.

I haven't been on a first date in a looong time, as I was completely wrapped up in an academic competition for the past year. I'm just starting to get back into dating and building up a roster again. As a result, I'm rusty!

I obviously know the basics (him paying, appropriate venues, etc) but I think I could use some details, tips and tricks, just little things you have found to be helpful. Anyone able to share some practical advice?
